For many years, Milkwood Run has supported Volunteer Wildfire Servicesas its charity partner, recognising the incredible work they do to protect our mountains and communities during wildfire season.

So if you’re up for a great trail run this weekend, support this fantastic event and the volunteers behind it.

Every runner at the 2026 ABAX Milkwood Run helped do something bigger than just cross a finish line. 🌿🏃‍♂️🔥

Through your donations, you are supporting Volunteer Wildfire Services. The incredible volunteer firefighters who help protect the Western Cape’s communities and mountains.

With more than 350 volunteers across stations in Newlands, the South Peninsula, Stellenbosch and Helderberg, Volunteer Wildfire Services has been on the front line of wildfire response for more than two decades.

As our fire seasons grow longer and wildfires become more frequent, their work protecting lives, homes and our natural landscapes is more important than ever.

It was also fantastic to have Volunteer Wildfire Services out on the course, helping to man one of our water tables and joining the run themselves as part of the Milkwood community.

Thank you to every runner who chose to contribute. Your support helps equip and sustain the volunteers who stand ready when fires start.

We couldn’t be prouder of every single participant in the 5km at the ABAX Milkwood Run 🌿🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️

From the youngsters sprinting off the start line, to families running side by side, to friends crossing the finish together.

The Milkwood Run is staged at the Soetwater Resort behind Kommetjie on the southernmost west coast of the Cape. The 21.1km scenic route winds its way along the coast from Kommetjie to Scarborough with magnificent views of the coast line.

Now this is the kind of post-run glow-up we love to see 🌱✨

The leftover plants from Sunday’s ABAX Milkwood Run have found their forever homes, and they’re already thriving! 🌿💚

Turns out running and planting have a lot in common… you dig deep, you put in the effort, you stay consistent, and before you know it, you’re growing stronger every day 🏃‍♂️🌳

Thank you View Secondary School for giving these plants the care they deserve and for growing something beautiful beyond race day.
