LBL Rallies Enjoy the authentic feel of 1950s car rallying: Liège-Brescia-Liège, Mycenaean-Minoan, Craic + more!

Since 2008, Classic Rally Press has revived the spectactular 1958 Liège-Brescia-Liège microcar rally. Following very successful rallies in 2008 and subsequently, it's time for the Diamond Jubilee, in July 2018! Our provisional schedule will take you through all the splendid passes tackled by those early pioneers as they thrashed little engines for 2000 miles over mountain pass after mountain pass in search of glory – but this time, instead of non-stop for 64 hours, you can enjoy the authentic route over 11 days, with luxury hotels, all meals, fun special tests, fascinating visits, mechanic back-up – and the chance for the competitive to win superb trophies! Every finisher will receive a special, exclusive, Diamond Jubilee replica of the original enamel plaque awarded to the finishers on that historic 1958 rally. The principal event will be for exactly the same cars and classes as in 1958 and the only cars eligible will be those of a type identical to cars that would have been eligible in 1958 - up to 500cc with classes for up to 250cc and up to 350cc - plus three-wheel versions if mechanically identical (due to the vagaries of international competition rules, in 1958 3-wheelers couldn't compete against 4-wheelers - well, they can in our events!). That's all Berkeleys other than B95/105s, Messerschmitt KR200s and Tigers, Isettas, Heinkels, Zundapp Januses, Friskies, suicide-door Fiat 500s, early 2CVs, Isard/Goggomobil 300s and 400s, and more

There will be a secondary event run alongside, but entirely separate with its own prizes, for microcars in the spirit of the original event but a bit later, or with larger engines up to 750cc - all later Fiat 500s and 600s, later Citroen 2CVs, Berkeley B95s/105s, BMW 600s and 700s, and many more. For any information about our events, please feel free to get in touch by messaging us here or through our website!

Day 9, the final day of Rally Pyrenees 2026, began from the car-heaven Hotel Nordic in Andorra, heading straight up the mountain to the highest pass of the rally - the 2408m Port d'Envalira, where the grass was frosty under-foot.
The Cols continued at gradually decreasing altitudes - 2085m, 1920m, 976m, 406m, 752m, 599m all the way to the finish at the stunning historic citadel of Carcassonne - but there was much more to see and enjoy along the way, as well as some challenging navigation at times!
We passed spectacular solar furnaces, where myriad mirrors focus sunlight on a central spot, generating huge temperatures; Vauban's UNESCO World Heritage 17C fortress at Mont Louis; the charning 11C walled town of Villefranche; the spectacular drive through the Gorges de Galamus; the spectacular Cathar chateau of Peyrepertuse; with time to visit some, if not all!
Navigators had to keep focus right to the end, as tiny lanes through thick forest led us ever closer to the finish at Carcassonne where, thanks to the Mayor, all were able to line up in front of the imposing City walls.
Our final hotel, the Hotel de la Cite, was without question the most luxurious of all - a hotel of the highest quality which featured on the Grand Tour route in the 1920s and 30s, and a perfect place to finish the rally.
Photos for now of the final day's route and gathering - the next post will reveal the final results of this hotly-contested event. Our formula is that rallies should be fun for all, but with a competitive theme that - for those who want to win - is a real challenge. This year's results showed just how close that competition could be!

Day 8, the penultimate day of Rally Pyrenees 2026, shifted focus to meeting local enthusiasts - as well as some more great driving on superb roads.
We set off from the ideally-located H10 Imperial Tarraco Hotel in Tarragona, and were swiftly onto quiet, sweeping roads heading north. Climbing, the route took us through fertile farmland on ever-smaller roads, twisting and winding then opening out onto open plains, with stunning views of the Pyrenees mountain range spread from side to side right across the horizon in the far distance. Impossible to capture in a photograph, but seriously impressive to the eye!
Our destination was Bassella, home to Museu Moto and the chance to join the inaugural Bassella Revival - a great gathering of classic cars, 4x4s and motorcycles. We were invited by the Classic Motor Club del Bages and are hugely grateful to them and to the Soler family at Bassella for welcoming us so warmly.
Crews enjoyed a good look round the superb family motorcycle museum and then headed down to the Revival paddock for lunch - and a browse of the superb autojumble. Some had to be dragged away!
Our afternoon drive took us up a little-known road known to local enthusiasts as the Spanish Stelvio - driving up it certainly felt as if it had almost as many hairpins, with the massive difference that there was almost zero other traffic on it! We were back in the Pyrenees proper, and enjoyed a blast over a few Colls (and another bit of challenging navigation where the map was wrong - again!) before dropping down a little to pick up the main road into Andorra.
What an incredible contrast Andorra is, to everything else on this rally. Busy, vibrant, crazy - it has a unique vibe that draws you in. Here we were welcomed by Lluis and his team from the Associacio Andorrana de Vehicles Antics, and enjoyed a visit to the superb National Automobile Museum of Andorra.
Our hotel tonight is the superb Hotel Nordic, blessed with a motoring enthusiast owner who adorns the hotel with historic cars and motorcycles: fantastic!

Day 7 of Rally Pyrenees 2026 was yet another day of contrasts - as every day has been so far! We started in a chilly but sunny 5C at Morella - the temperature rising steadily to 24C by the time we reached the coast at Tarragona.
We left Morella beside the astonishing Roman aqueduct that used to bring water to the city, heading uphill to a tricky series of junctions taking us off onto twisty, empty country roads, smooth and brilliant to drive. Then onto larger roads - still near-empty, before branching off to beautiful Miravet and its castle.
The tiny ferry across the River Ebro was sadly out of action, but a quick detour took us to the superb Circuit Mora d'Ebre for the final Special Test of the rally. Driving out onto the 1400m circuit, driving a full lap then into the pit lane for a stop astride line that couldn't be seen before the chicane into the pits proved a good challenge that only the very experienced Nigel & Chris, and Alistair & Bridget, managed to zero - though four crews were just a second out and all but two were within 10sec - an astonishing achievement!
Packed lunches consumed by the circuit, a final super-twisty climb and descent brought us within sight of the Mediterranean - we'd crossed Spain from Atlantic coast to Med and now cruised into beautiful Tarragona. Full of remarkable Roman remains and buildings of every century since, this thriving coastal city has so much to reveal - so crews enjoyed an afternoon and evening to explore to their hearts' content...
