Pietro Elia Barcellona is a double bassist, specialising in experimental music and new music improvisation.

At In Bloom he will perform his “Da un respiro, un battito, che non finisce mai”, a homage to "Voyage that never ends" by Stefano Scodanibbio. Pietro rethinks parts of the original composition - a journey through the complexities and sonorous possibilities of the double bass - attempting to give a personal view of what he can express with the instrument. Interested in the boundaries of composition and improvisation, this performance is unique to the space and context it is performed in.

Starting from small rhythmical gestures, the performance slowly develops into a strong virtuosic and expressive performance.

"For me, playing acts as a form of stimming, a way to navigate the delicate balance between overstimulation and under-stimulation, a state that I often find elusive. While stimming is primarily recognised as a coping mechanism for autistic people and ADHD, the challenge of overstimulation affects us all." - Britt van den Boogaard

'A fine line between' is an audiovisual choreography where a wearable instrument - developed by Britt - extends the body. Physical phenomena like spring reverb and string vibration create complex harmonics which are constantly changing.

At the center of his performance at In Bloom is the Misfit Harp, a self-built electroacoustic string instrument designed to produce evolving sound masses through a combination of electromagnetic feedback, programmable pitch modulation, and gestural control.
