Bridgestone World Solar Challenge The 3,021km journey from Darwin to Adelaide through the Australian Outback can be harsh, unpredictable, and extreme. It's all of these.

The Bridgestone World Solar Challenge is a biennial event pitching the world's brightest emerging minds in engineering against one another to build and operate a solar car from Darwin to Adelaide, South Australia through the harsh Australian outback The blistering sun that powers the car, specifically designed for the World Solar Challenge, can push daytime temperatures over 50 degrees. There are tropical downpours, vicious crosswinds, willy willies and dust storms. Then there are road trains-53 metre monsters barrelling along at 100Kph. Ask what the World Solar Challenge is about, and you will get many answers. There are so many elements driving technology in electric vehicles today, that the Challenge is no longer about any one advancement in photovoltaics, energy management, advanced materials or electrical engineering alone. Ultimately it is a design Challenge that rewards innovation, teamwork and human endeavour. COMMUNITY GUIDELINES

The countdown to the 2027 Bridgestone World Solar Challenge is officially ON! ☀

To mark the milestone, we’re excited to announce Claude as an Official Partner, bringing next-generation intelligence to the world’s toughest solar challenge. All participating teams will receive Claude subscriptions and access to Anthropic's Applied AI team

We’re also proud to welcome back CSIRO as our Official Scientific Partner. For 40 years, CSIRO has helped power the science behind the Bridgestone World Solar Challenge. As teams prepare to cross Australia once again in 2027, CSIRO will be supporting the challenge with scientific expertise, technical validation and scrutineering, helping ensure one of the world's toughest solar races remains a global showcase for innovation and sustainable mobility.

It's an elite field that makes it onto the honour roll of Champions. But when it comes to going the distance, there's no disputing 8X champion has the track record to prove it. After watching their lead go up in smoke❤️‍🔥 in 2019, so heartbreakingly close to Adelaide, this team knows from experience, it's never over until the finish line. 🏁The only thing that's certain in the world's largest solar challenge, is that any thing can happen. We can't wait to see who'll lead the charge in 2027 ⚡and if anyone can 😉.
