Dear all former participants,

In the words of Marvin Gaye (well technically Norman Whitfield), perhaps you've already heard it through the grapevine... After 3 years of dedicated efforts, the Victoria Tango Marathon is taking a break. The core organizing trio is scattered with Kelly busy being a mom to two young boys, Sam living on the other side of the continent, and Grazyna focused on growing her tango and that of our local Victoria community. It's been exciting and rewarding for us to organize and host this lovely event each year and we hope to be able to bring it back when the timing is right, but it won't be 2026 😕

During the hiatus, we will be supporting a sister event organized by a few amazing members of our community. We highly encourage you to attend this marathon so we can all see and dance with each other once again.
Island Embrace will take place from April 10-12th 2026 and involves many of the volunteers who helped make VTM what it is. It is bound to be a success, they already announced an awesome lineup of DJs so check them out and make sure not to miss that party!

VTM begins tomorrow! We kick things off with a beautiful hike to McKenzie Bight. Here are are few reminders:

🚌Transportation:
The Bus will depart from the DaVinci Center (195 Bay Street) at 1PM on Friday April 11th and leave at about 4PM from Gowlland Tod Park to return to the DaVinci Center around 4:30-4:45PM.

❗️IMPORTANT: If you did not preregister for a seat on the bus, there may not be a seat available for you.

🗺About the hike:
Gowlland Tod Provincial Park is a short 30 minute drive from Victoria
Distance: 3.2km (loop).
Difficulty: McKenzie Bight Trail is Easy , Timberman Trail is Easy/Intermediate
Drop off: The Bus will drop you off at the Trail Head parking lot “A”.
Return: The return will be from the same place as the drop off, parking lot “A”.

This is a loop trail and the return involves a short steeper elevation gain to get to Cascade Falls. There is the option to backtrack the first half of the trail if you prefer saving your legs.

8:00PM – 1:00AM Friday Land Acknowledgement & Milonga – DJ Alexis Boileau

Saturday April 12th
11:00AM-12:00PM Brunch Buffet (remaining food until 1PM)
12:00PM-1:00PM Workshop – Dancing with a Stranger – Instructor: Tiffany Antoniuk
1:00PM-5:00PM Afternoon Milonga – DJ Rebecca Rorick Smith
8:00PM-2:00AM Evening Milonga – DJ Olga Bogatova

Sunday April 13th

Onsite Child Minding service available during Afternoon Milongas for ages 0-5.
