“The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step”
Today July 30, 2022, the same thing happens. When at the 9th Ho Chi Minh City Sports Festival - 2022, Hockey was brought into competition for the first time, receiving great support from Vietnamese and international athletes who are studying and working in Vietnam. For the first time, Ho Chi Minh City Hockey Federation was honored to host the Hockey tournament, opening a new page for the Ho Chi Minh City Gymnastics and Sports Festival.
The sweltering weather of Saigon's summer is not comparable to the fire of enthusiasm right on the field at this time. The teams are doing their best to not only bring the team prestigious prizes, but also give Hockey a new higher and better position, but above all, bring the audience more beautiful performances.

Throughout history, we've seen athletes stand for causes and use their voices for freedom and equality on and off of the field.

Our Sports Diplomacy participants are working together to promote these values at home and globally. We know sport has the power to change the world and can create hope in situations of despair--breaking down barriers and supporting inclusion.

As leagues open back up for games, we call on sport to help unite us and promote values that we hold dear - equality, justice, and freedom.

Today we travel to Brazil 🇧🇷 to meet 2019 Empower alumni Thais Olivetti!

Thais is cofounder of Empodera - Transformação social pelo esporte and was mentored by the incredible Julie Eddleman and her powerhouse team at Google! 💪🏻

About her mentorship experience Thais said, "I learned a lot from my mentors: strategic planning, prioritizing, communication best practices, and networking. But the most valuable thing I learned from them is to believe in myself and in my power to impact the lives of girls in my country."

And when asked about how she feels can make a difference in her community Thais shared "I will put into practice everything I learned and through my non-profit, I will develop the capacity of other organizations to have more people working for the empowerment of girls. By creating more safe and inclusive spaces for girls in sport, I will empower them to believe in their own potential, building the confidence they need to succeed on and off the playing field." ⚽🤸🏻‍♀️🏅
