E.Nerizon is an annual English Speaking Contest held by Economic English Club (EEC) of National Economic University. Each year, E.Nerizon opens up a different debatable theme which attracts students from various universities in Hanoi to discuss and raise their opinion. This year's theme is Pioneer or Paranoid. According to the Oxford dictionary, Pioneer is the "One who goes before to prepare or op
en up the way for others to follow". Therefore, the pioneer is always a loner with his idea at the very beginning. But a great idea, a breakthrough idea, an idea that can change the surrounding world completely will always contain the madness of it. That is when social pressures put that person standing at a thin boundary: between being a successful pioneer... and being paranoid. In the book called “John di tim Hung”, the overseas Vietnamese named Tran Hung John wrote: Most the Vietnamese people have the passive characteristic, they are the follower, not the pioneer. If someone goes first and tries first, I will follow that person rather than be the leader. The social pressure makes you have to take the pre-plan road.”
