HIIII FRIENDS. Awkward PSA. šŸ¤ŖšŸ–¤

A friendly little reminder from your neighborhood cryptid running a creative studio.

Hexed Holler Collective is a creative studio with community programming. My goal has always been to create a flexible, welcoming third space where people can gather, learn, create, and find a sense of belonging.

We believe in empathy, informed consent, harm reduction, bodily autonomy, and destigmatizing conversations around sexuality, alternative lifestyles, mental health, spirituality, and all the things society has decided are too uncomfortable to talk about.

Education isn’t participation. Curiosity isn’t endorsement. And unfamiliar doesn’t automatically mean inappropriate or dangerous.

We host everything from art workshops, book clubs, and tabletop games to community gatherings and adult education. Yes, that includes kink education. Our classes are fully clothed, focused on consent and safety, and sexual activity is not permitted. Adults are capable of gathering for reasons other than fu***ng. Revolutionary concept, I know. 🤣

Creating a welcoming space doesn’t mean anything goes, either. It means boundaries, mutual respect, and accountability. That’s why we have House Rules. Wild, apparently. Not everyone finds community in the same places. Some find it in churches, gyms, or sports leagues. Others find it in art studios, gaming tables, or alternative spaces. None of those communities have to look like yours to be worthy of existing.

Frankly, I think we’ve gotten entirely too comfortable assuming the worst about things we don’t understand. It’s an incredibly selfish way to move through the world. Your discomfort doesn’t automatically mean someone else is doing something wrong. Your assumptions aren’t facts, and your personal beliefs aren’t universal standards. Those assumptions can have real consequences for someone’s reputation, livelihood, and sense of belonging. We can’t claim to want stronger communities while refusing to extend empathy to the people in them.

So get involved! Visit local businesses. Attend events. Meet your neighbors. Ask questions. Learn about people whose experiences differ from yours. Community isn’t just occupying the same geographical area. It’s making an effort to know, understand, and support one another.

And if you’re looking for something we don’t offer, there’s a decent chance we can point you toward someone who does. We’re helpful like that. 😌

You don’t have to agree with everyone to treat them with dignity. A little curiosity, empathy, and intentional kindness go a long way.

Questions about Hexed Holler, our programming, or our resources? Please reach out! I genuinely love talking about what we’re building.

October at the Holler! šŸ–¤šŸ«¶šŸ»

A little late getting everything posted, but life has been busy and there’s been a lot happening behind the scenes!

We’ve got a full month of creativity, community, and a little bit of chaos. Workshop Wednesday is still going strong, we’re introducing Maintenance Monday, and there are plenty of opportunities to make things, learn things, meet people, and get out of the house.

I’ve also been working on making the Holler more sustainable, supporting local artists and makers, and continuing to build the kind of community space I wish existed when I needed it.

Being selected as ArtCoz’s October Artist of the Month also made me realize I should probably take some time to formally introduce myself! I’ve spent so much time highlighting the Holler and the wonderful people involved that I haven’t really shared much about myself. So, keep an eye out for that soon. šŸ–¤

Attached are our October newsletter, event calendar, and Downtown Zanesville Art Walk map for anyone interested in exploring future First Fridays! We’re officially stop #3, and I’d love to see more people getting out and supporting our local creative community.

Whether you’re a regular, you’ve been following along for a while, or you’re just discovering us, there’s room for you here.

Thank you for continuing to show up, share ideas, and help this little dream grow.

Grow wild. Stay kind. šŸ–¤

Have a great day. Love ya bye.
