As a nonprofit organization, we're dedicated to providing an authentic and equitable space for resource sharing, community events, and networking. Situated in the heart of Downtown York, The Grotto has become a home for artists, businesses, designers, and visionaries alike.

What even is The Grotto?!

This is a question we hear a lot, and it’s a testament to the growth that has happened since we unlocked the doors to our new building.

We have everything from networking events to workshops, artist residencies to artist studies. Hang-outs and gallery openings. Co-working. A meeting space for your team. A darkroom (soon)!

And more than anything, The Grotto is a place for you to bring your ideas to life. We’re a community-centered and entrepreneurial hub providing space, resources, & programming for the dreamers and doers right in th heart of Downtown York.

Next art show submission call! 📣

LIFT invites artists to explore the marks, impressions, and textures that emerge when we pull images from the world around us. This open call seeks works lifted from lived surfaces: through street rubbings, transfers, printmaking matrices, or any process that reveals an overlooked subject.

We welcome submissions that engage with:
- rubbings taken from pavement, bricks, grates, manhole covers, or urban textures
- impressions and lifts from street surfaces or architectural details
- printmaking, monotypes, transfers, and trace-based practices
- pigments, residue, or fragments physically or conceptually lifted from environments
- experimental interpretations of imprint, elevation, and extraction

We can't wait to see what you all come up with.
