Update on pay raise:

On Thursday, March 28, 2019, President Trump signed Executive Order (EO) 13386, Executive Order on Adjustments of Certain Rates of Pay, approving a 1.9 percent retroactive pay increase for federal employees effective January 6, 2019 (Pay Period 01). The EO authorizes a 1.4 percent across-the-board pay increase for General Schedule (GS) employees, with an additional 0.5 percent adjustment in locality pay rates. The 2019 increase in salary should be reflected in Pay Period 07 paychecks (received by April 22, 2019). However, in some cases, retroactive pay may be received in the subsequent pay periods due to special processing requirements (for example, if an interim pay action has occurred, i.e., step increase, promotion). The new salary charts can be accessed through the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) website.

The Executive Order does not address prevailing rate pay adjustments for Federal Wage System (FWS) employees. FWS pay adjustments do not occur at the same time as GS pay adjustments; they occur annually on a variety of dates depending on the wage area. FWS salary and wage information can also be accessed through the OPM website.

Please contact your servicing Human Resource Office for additional information regarding the 2019 pay adjustment.

This year our very own AFGE CPL-33 Local 1013 participated in Mississippi’s Legislative Conference and COPE Convention. While doing so, important topics and issues in today’s work environments within state and federal domains were reviewed. Solutions were formulated to these issues, and our union board members were able to hear the points of various house members in Mississippi’s House of Representatives. Some speakers whom attended the conference were Attorney General Jim Hood, House Rep. Oscar Denton, ACLU Head Jennifer Riley Collins, Alderwoman Addie Lee Green, and more. Local 1013 Union members met with state senators and discussed views for not only our own day to day work issues, but solutions for community issues as a whole. In solidarity!
