The Rising Stars heat is always one of our favorites, and this year did not disappoint. So much heart out there on the course.

Big congrats to Hayden Roberts (Gonzaga University) and Jaycee Jenkins (Kamiakin High School) for taking the wins. Always a joy watching this next wave come up. The future of the mile is bright 💫

Coach Robert Price made his Eisenhower track and field team a promise. Place top 3 in the Trouvé TRU-ly Rad Group Challenge and he would let them shave his head.

They delivered. IKE took 2nd with 131 finishers and walked away with $5,000 for their program. Coach kept his word.

Here is the part worth paying attention to. This is one of the easiest ways to raise real money for something you care about.

The Group Challenge had a $23,000 purse this year across 17 groups. The top groups earned up to $10,000 just by showing up and crossing the finish line. No standards. No qualifying times. Most finishers wins.

Any group can run this. A school. A church. A sports team. A nonprofit. A business rallying its people behind a cause they choose.

What separates the groups that win is simple. Activate your community early. Give people a reason to show up. Plan ahead. IKE had a coach willing to lose his hair. Find your version of that.

We had 17 groups line up this year and we cannot wait to see that number grow. Start thinking now about the nonprofit you want to run for.

Anthony Camerieri didn’t just win. He rewrote the book.⚡️

His 3:49.34 is now the fastest mile ever run at the Yakima Mile, and the fastest in Washington state, period.

The previous course record? Sam Prakel’s 3:50.5 from 2022, a mark that stood for three years.

To claim Fastest Mile in WA, Anthony had to clear 3:49.81. He did, banking the $6,000 bonus on top of his $5,000 win. Eleven grand for one electric mile.

He didn’t do it alone, either. Craig Engles was right on his shoulder at 3:49.69, also under the record.

Cool air. Tailwind at their backs. Rising star Hayden Roberts leading the field through the first 800 to set the pace.

The result? SIX men under 3:53, including Yakima Mile pro sponsored athlete JONAS PRICE, who threw down 3:51.70.

The race was a war.

1st: Anthony Camerieri, 3:49.34 (NEW COURSE RECORD)
2nd: Craig Engles, 3:49.69
3rd: Thomas Diamond, 3:51.33
4th: Jonas Price, 3:51.70

West Valley firefighter Jacob (Jake) Williams has run the Heroes Mile at the Yakima Mile the last 2 years … in full gear, oxygen tank on his back and all!! 🚒

Jake simply loves a challenge and showing up for his community. But what’s really inspiring is the ripple effect he leaves behind. The message: always challenge yourself. Do what others won’t.

Thank you, Jake (and all our heroes), for your service to the community. We see you, we love you, and we can’t wait to cheer you on again next year. 🫡

Top 7 teams earn cash from a prize purse of $20,000 🤑

WEST VALLEY XC + TF DEFENDS THE CROWN, taking home the 10K 1st place prize for the SECOND year running!! congrats!!

And it’s not over yet. The 3 teams that didn’t crack the top 7 but still showed up with 20+ finishers are going head to head in a drawing TONIGHT at 7PM on Instagram Live. Cheering on CWS, Sun City, and Naches 👀

We’re still buzzing🤩

The fastest mile in Washington is back where it belongs, right here in Yakima. The men’s elite race was an absolute thriller: Anthony Camerieri crossing first at 3:49.34, with Craig Engels a heartbeat behind at 3:49.69. The kind of finish you feel in your chest.

And the conditions? Wind with the coolest temps we’ve ever had out there, and somehow it just made the whole night more electric.

To everyone who ran, cheered, volunteered, sponsored, or just stood on a curb screaming for strangers: thank you. This one was special, and it was special because of you.

Nothing beats the afterglow, the morning after a successful Yakima Mile. More participants, more stories, the exuberance of community spirit, all coming together on an evening of magic in our amazing Yakima Valley. The emotions are raw.
