It’s already been a week since Recumbent Cycle-Con 2026 wrapped up in Xenia, but the great atmosphere is still very much with us.

So here are a few photos to bring some of it back — busy hall full of bikes, trikes and quads. Lengthy conversations, inspiring seminars, plenty of test riding, group rides and, most importantly, lots of familiar and new faces enjoying the weekend together.

🌧️ RAIN? NO PROBLEM — WE HAVE A LONG INDOOR TEST TRACK!

Worried about the weather this weekend? Don’t be!

One of the great things about Recumbent Cycle-Con is that the test track runs through two large empty halls, so you can keep testing bikes and trikes while staying dry.

And this isn’t just a short indoor loop. The track meanders back and forth through both halls, creating a surprisingly long course with plenty of space to get a proper feel for the recumbents you want to try.

So even if a few raindrops show up in Xenia, the test rides don’t have to stop.

Come to RCC, stay dry and ride, test and compare!

START YOUR RCC WEEK WITH DAN ZIMMERMAN!
Coming to Xenia early? Bring your trike — because the riding starts well before RCC opens!

Dan Zimmerman of Spokes Fighting Strokes will organize morning group rides every day from September 13 through 17, starting at 8:00 AM.

Dan will be easy to find. Look for his huge RV with an even bigger trailer at the Greene County Expo Campground. 😄 That's where the rides will start each morning.

Dan is well known throughout the recumbent community for his work with Spokes Fighting Strokes, helping stroke survivors get onto trikes, properly fitted and confidently riding again.

These particular morning rides, however, are intended for experienced, independent trike riders who don't require riding assistance.

So, if you're arriving in Xenia a few days early, why wait until the weekend? Join Dan and other trike riders for an easy morning ride and start enjoying the RCC community before the show even begins.

🤘 TAKE IT OFF-ROAD AT RCC!
The long RCC test track isn't the only place where you can have some fun on three wheels!

Steintrikes is preparing an off-road test track on the gravel area behind the hall, complete with bumps, uneven surfaces and obstacles of different sizes.

It's a great opportunity to see how a trike behaves when the surface gets rougher, experience suspension in action — and, most importantly, have some fun!

The video gives you a little taste of what to expect. The rest you'll have to experience yourself in Xenia!

⚡ A UNIQUE CHANCE TO TEST RIDE CHAINLESS TRIKES!
One of the most interesting new technologies coming to Recumbent Cycle-Con 2026 is something you really need to ride to understand: chainless cycling, also known as pedal-by-wire.

The idea sounds almost strange at first. There is no chain connecting your pedals to the rear wheel. Instead, your pedals turn a generator, electricity travels through a wire, and a motor drives the wheel. A battery is also part of the system to provide electric assistance.

These systems have developed significantly in recent years and can now provide a surprisingly smooth and natural pedaling experience. And getting rid of the mechanical drivetrain makes some very interesting things possible.

⚙️ No gear shifting — just pedal at your preferred cadence.
🔋 Regenerative braking — slow down by backpedaling and recover some energy at the same time.
↩️ Reverse — on a trike, pedal backward and you can actually go backward!
⛓️ No chain, cassette or derailleur between the pedals and rear wheel.

And this is where RCC gets really interesting.

At least four brands will have chainless trikes to test: ICE, HP Velotechnik and Steintrikes with the French CIXI PERS system, plus Trident with its own chainless solution.

So you won't just get to try pedal-by-wire. You'll have the rare opportunity to ride several chainless trikes back-to-back, compare how different manufacturers have set up the CIXI PERS system, and even compare different pedal-by-wire technologies with each other.

Two official group rides are planned for the weekend, both starting directly from the fairgrounds:

Both will be easy, out-and-back 15-mile rides, with on-route snacks available.
