Ladies and Gentlemen,

Once again, the rain stayed away and despite the warm and muggy weather, it was a good day to shoot. There were 35 shooters with 61 fi****ms and results are posted to Practiscore.

Kudos to the setup crew: Ed Chatlos, Ben Hawkins, Mike Lash, and Stan Sherrod.

The next steel challenge match will be June 27, registration is open and the link to register is https://practiscore.com/rcps-scsa-june-27/register

Finally, if you are interested in attending a Steel Challenge Range Officers class, send an email to [email protected] and let me know. If there are enough people that are willing to take a class and become RO certified (minimum is 20), I'll try and put something together.

Squads are nearly full for the May 30 Steel Challenge match, but sign up if you still want to shoot. We always have folks that withdraw or fail to show up for the match.

Bottom Line: If you want to compete, we'll add you at check-in.

Text me at 256-919-6267 if you have any questions.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

The rain stayed away and it was a good day to compete. There were 29 shooters with 51 fi****ms and results are posted to Practiscore at https://practiscore.com/results/html/d787df9d-64f9-4916-9569-f76b6a0dc042?page=overall-combined

A big thanks to the setup crew: Ed Chatlos, Bart Graham, Ben Hawkins, Mike Lash, Ray Regner and Stan Sherrod.

If you have CONSTRUCTIVE feedback about Provisional Stage TS-005 "Double Trouble" that was in Bay 2, send it to [email protected] by 28 May. I'll compile and send your comments to the National Range Officers Institute.

The next steel challenge match will be May 30. It will be an eight stage match and the link to register is https://practiscore.com/rcps-scsa-may-30/register

Finally, if you are interested in attending a Steel Challenge Range Officers class, send an email to [email protected] and let me know. If there are enough people that are willing to take a class and become RO certified, I'll try and put something together.

Have a safe Memorial Day,

John West

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Registration is open for the May 23 Steel Challenge Shooting Association (SCSA) Match and there are currently still several slots open. Register at https://clubs.practiscore.com/rcps-scsa-may-23/register

Registration will close May 22 at 5:00 p.m., but you can still "walk on" at check in if you are too late to register online. If all the squads appear to be full, sign up anyway; we'll make sure you get to compete.

Check in starts at 9:00 a.m. and will CLOSE at 9:45 a.m., so please allow enough time to sign in so we can get our match brief out of the way and be shooting by 10:00 a.m.

This will be a six stage match, so 200 rounds per firearm should be enough, including any makeups.

New shooter safety briefing is at 9:30 a.m. If you're new to SCSA, haven't shot in over a year, or haven't shot at our range, please arrive in time to check in and attend this briefing.

The following are VERY IMPORTANT, so please read:

- Eye and ear protection are required for competitors and spectators!

- Spectators are welcome, but must sign a waiver at check in if they don't have one on file for the current calendar year.

- Come prepared and have your firearm already sighted in. No sighting in or "checking your dot" after the match starts.

- Long guns must have a chamber flag and be cased or in a cart/wagon.

- Holsters must cover the trigger guard. Inside the waist band and shoulder holsters are prohibited. Drop leg holsters are also prohibited (except for law enforcement or military personnel using duty equipment). Also, drawing from concealed carry is prohibited.

- Strap down holsters are not permitted if the heel of the the butt of the handgun is below the top of the belt (USPSA Rule 5.2.11).

Please bring cash or check. We do not have a credit card reader or ATM on site. No currency larger than a $20 bill or we may have trouble making change.
