The Fourth of July weekend opens the month with three concerts. Friday, July 3 at 8 PM, ARKAI — winners of the 2026 Grammy for Best Contemporary Instrumental Album — make their Maverick debut with a sound that fuses violin, cello, and electronics. Saturday, July 4 at 8 PM, guitarist Joel Harrison and Friends present Songs of Freedom, Independence, and Protest — a program drawing on Dylan, Monk, Tom Waits, Richie Havens, and Harrison's own compositions to explore what it means, and what it doesn't mean, to be free. The ensemble features Hudson Valley singers Sarah Fimm and Amanda Homi. Harrison also performs a free family concert at 11 AM. Sunday, July 5 at 4 PM, the Harlem Chamber Players make their Maverick debut with a program built for the weekend of America's 250th anniversary: Dvořák's beloved "American" Quartet alongside string quartets by Florence Price and George Walker, two overlooked masters of the American canon.
