Old Dominion One Day 100 Mile Cross Country Run

Old Dominion One Day 100 Mile Cross Country Run A Reason To Get Strong Since 1979
Mark June 6th 2026 on your calendar for the Classic "Old Dominion" It is more than just four marathons run back to back.

The Old Dominion 100 Mile Endurance Run is more than just a race. It is more than an event in the yearly schedule. It is the Old Dominion. What does that mean? The Old Dominion stands for tradition - the tradition of each individual against a difficult course, hot and humid weather and the 24 hour time limit for the silver buckle. It is the people that have run it in the past and will run it in the

future. And it is the people that help with the race every year. Course open for 28 hours. The Old Dominion One Day 100 Mile Cross Country Run was founded by Pat & Wayne Botts in 1979. With 45 starts that first year and the only measured 100 mile course at the time, 17 men and 1 woman made 100 mile one day history that first year in under 24 hours. Officially the first to run 100 miles in a day.The winner that year, Peter Monahan. The Old Dominion 100 first started as a 100 mile One Day horse race in 1974. Pat And Wayne Botts both competed and finished sub-24 that first horse race. It was 1978 and Pat Botts traveled with a group of friends to support 5 horses, one of which belonged to her, that were to compete in the Western States 100 mile horse race. Out west Pat was introduced to Wendell Robie, the founder of that event and credited with starting it all. He encouraged Pat with the idea of a similar run on the East Coast since the Old Dominion Ride had the only other course of this kind at the time. (It was later reported that Western States was 86-89 miles at that time.)

It’s Go Time! 🎉

We’re ready for our runners and can’t wait to see everyone at check-in!

We know many of you will be cheering on runners from afar. We’ll do our best to share updates throughout the day tomorrow, but they may be limited. We’re a small team of volunteers, and our primary focus will be supporting the runners on the course.

If we have cell service and a free moment, we’ll be sure to post updates and keep you all in the loop. Thanks for your support, and good luck to all of our runners!

See who's running -

These are the individuals looking to conquer the course this year.

Runners with Crew — This Is for You!

Driving directions are available for download on our website. (http://www.olddominionrun.com/Documents/PitCrewDirections.pdf) We strongly recommend downloading and printing them, as GPS service in the Fort Valley area is unreliable at best. If the weather is cloudy, signal quality can be even worse. In addition, we have taken time to write the directions to ensure the best and safest route is taken to each aid station.

The directions assume you are leaving from the start line and heading to meet your runner at the first crew-accessible aid station. If you plan to skip any aid stations or will not be starting from the start area, you may need to make minor adjustments to the directions. A helpful course map is included on Page 2 of the driving instructions.

🚗Parking at Aid Stations
Additional parking information is included on the driving instruction sheets, but here is more detailed information.

Location #1 (770/758)
Park along the roadside, staying as far off the roadway as possible.

Location #2 (Four Points #1)
Please approach this aid station slowly.

The aid station will be on your right. All vehicles must drive past the aid station, continue until there is a safe location to turn around, and then return to park on the opposite side of the aid station (which will now be on your right-hand side). All vehicles must park on the same side of the road.

There is also a driveway in this area that must remain open at all times. Failure to follow parking instructions at this aid station may jeopardize your runner's ability to continue in the race.

Location #3 (Four Points #2)
Remain in the same location as Aid Station #2.

Location #4 (Edinburg Gap)
Park in the lot on the left. This aid station offers more space than most, but it is also a public ATV parking area. If the lot is full, additional roadside parking may be available nearby.

Location #5 (Little Fort)
This is a very challenging parking area, especially for larger vehicles.

We recommend NOT arriving several hours before your runner. The section between Aid Stations #4 and #5 is difficult, and runners typically take longer to reach this location. If crews arrive approximately an hour before their runner, traffic flow and parking should remain manageable.

An aid station volunteer will direct you to available parking. If the area becomes congested, you may be asked to drop off supplies or crew members, exit the area, park along the roadside, and walk back in. (Pro tip- use your extra time here to go into town and buy your runner their favorite hot food and surprise them with it at the Aid Station. They will need the moral boost when they see you!)

Location #6 (Elizabeth Furnace)
This location has ample parking and plenty of space.

If your runner has a safety runner, we recommend that they park here and arrange transportation back to their vehicle after finishing their pacing duties.

Location #7 (Veach West)
This is another very tight parking area.

Following parking instructions is critical, and failure to do so may jeopardize your runner's race. Drive down to the turnaround circle, turn around, then drive back out and park along the right side of the road. Expect the passenger side of your vehicle to be very close to the brush and bushes. ❗DO NOT PARK IN THE TURN AROUND.❗

If you are at this Aid station and hear of a safety runner needing a ride back to their car, lend a hand, since they left more room for you to park here!

Location #8 (770/758)
This is the same location as first crew aid station from the morning. Please park along the roadside while keeping the roadway as clear as possible.

Location #9 (Water Street)
There is plenty of roadside parking available.

Final Tips
Aid Station #1 is often the most challenging location for crews. Because it is their first stop of the day, crews are still learning the layout, and runners frequently arrive sooner than expected. We highly encourage new crews to drive to the first location on Friday so they feel comfortable navigating to the first aid station on race day.

Runners: consider placing a drop bag at the first crew aid (770/758) to ensure you have access to any critical gear or supplies in case your crew misses you.

Each Runner will receive 1 crew parking pass. Parking pass must be placed on the outside of the windshield for optimal nighttime visibility. Placed on passenger's side top corner for the duration of the event. If the sticker is not on the vehicle at the aid station, someone may place one on the window. Supplies to remove stickers will be available during award ceremony.

Thank you crew for all you do for all the runners and helping us keep the day running smoothly. See you at the Aid Stations!

We're sure many of you have been keeping a close eye on the forecast, and if you have, you've probably noticed it's been changing frequently!

We received significant rainfall about two weeks ago, and as recently as last week there were still some muddy sections along the trail. However, with no additional rain since then and none before Saturday, water crossings should be minimal. The stretch between Mudhole and Elizabeth Furnace is where you're most likely to encounter standing water or stream crossings. There will be one at the Crisman Hollow Aid, but there are usually rocks available to make crossing easy.

At the moment, the forecast calls for cloudy conditions on Saturday with no chance of rain. But don't let the cloud cover fool you, in true Old Dominion history, it's shaping up to be the traditionally hot day we usually see. Plan accordingly, listen to your body, and stay on top of your hydration and nutrition. This becomes more important since we have seen few hot, humid days leading up to the race.

Race Weekend Logistics

✅ Check-In & Drop Bags
Check-in opens at 1:00 PM (1300) on Friday. Runners must drop off all drop bags between 1:00 PM and 5:00 PM (1300–1700).

All drop bags must be submitted by 5:00 PM, as our Aid Station Captains will begin transporting them to their locations immediately following the race briefing.

🎤 Mandatory Pre-Race Briefing
The pre-race briefing is required for all runners. We'll cover important course information, race logistics, safety updates, and everything you need to know before heading to the start line.

Crews are encouraged to attend as we'll review aid station locations and provide recommendations for gas stations and food and other helpful race-weekend logistics.

🏁 Race Morning Check-In
Before the race begins on Saturday, all runners must check in with our timer at the start line to confirm their arrival. Be sure to listen for announcements and follow any race morning instructions.

🏆 Awards Ceremony & Drop Bag Pickup
Awards will be presented during our ceremony at 9:00 AM on Sunday, after the event concludes.

Please plan to stay for the ceremony to collect any awards and retrieve your drop bags. Even if your race didn't go as planned, we would love for you to join us for breakfast and the awards ceremony. We enjoy catching up with all of our runners and celebrating the weekend together.

We are just about 50 days out!! There are lots of preparations going on getting everything ready. This map is a focus on aid stations 10 & 13 for the new folks.

For the first-timers. A busy little piece of the course worth knowing.

Pit crews must follow these parking directions for Veach West. This is a dead end road on GW Forest land and we can not have pit crews parked in the turn around. You will be moved if you do. Aid station volunteers, race staff, and trail markers excluded. Thank you very much in advance !!
