KYLE HEWINS was the winner of the 5th annual Strictly Shootout in 2017. It was a year marked by a sponsor change and a bit of controversy in the event. Four Season Synthetics / Amsoil came on board as the title sponsor of the race, introducing a slew of special awards that have now become a tradition - including the championship rodeo-style belt buckle. 30 drivers took the green flag for the 40-lap main event. A first lap crash took out several contenders, including Dave Cameron, Cole Watson, and Brett Osmond. While another caution on lap 9 retired former track champs Bryan Robbins & Maurice Young. The race settled down after that with veteran Matt Dufault crossing under the checkers first, chased by Kyle Hewins, Jonanthon Emerson, Gary Davis, and Billy Childs. Post-race tech inspection penalties to Dufault, Davis, and Childs shook up the final running order, with the official victory going to Hewins, becoming the first 2-time winner. Jonathon and Zach Emerson took home the 2nd and 3rd place trophies. Zach Nicolson and 2016 winner Kurt Hewins filled out the official top 5.
