The Marigold Fiber Fest is the dream of many individuals, but one woman took the plunge to get us all organized and that is Sarah Hovater of . Here is how Sarah got into fiber: I have loved knitting and sewing since I was a child. There is something very satisfying in the act of creating. I first got sheep, however, to create cheese. Since dairy sheep are not known for their wool quality I sought out to mix breeds that would produce both milk and high quality wool. What I discovered is that dairy sheep are not known for their wool quality. 😅 So we now have our dairy sheep, and a much larger herd of wool sheep that produce many different varieties and qualities of wool to play with. I’ve been gradually learning how to process it myself from a raw fleece and experimented with a variety of projects along the way. For me, my fiber journey has been and remains one of continual learning.

Special people receive special projects 🥰 merino and angora fiber was blended together first 50:50. Then it was all spun up into a 2ply fi*****ng weight yarn. The yarn was knit into baby booties and then, to be extra extra special - a small buckskin bottom was stitched on. Handmade garments like these are some of the best hand-me-downs!
