A few short sleeps left until and the weather and road conditions are looking amazing (at least here in Iowa). We are looking forward reading about everyone's weekend adventures!!!

We'd like to announce the 2026 Challenge.

Although we had to cancel this year's event, there's no reason for your training and fitness to go unused. We'd like to see you, and some friends, challenge yourself with a long ride sometime during the weekend of April 17 - 19. Ideally 100 miles or more, but if the conditions are right, a shorter distance will do. Gravel, bikepacking, singletrack, or mixed surface - it's all good. Just get out and push your limits for a few, or many, hours.

While we're not able to get our community together this year, we think it would be great to have everyone share photos and be able to read stories about their rides! Email works, or better post to IG or FB and use the hashtag . No promises, but we might try and send something for each one that's submitted as well as gather the submissions and post them on the website as a bit of race history.

With a heavy heart, we are cancelling Iowa Wind and Rock for 2026.

Steve is currently working through a health issue which won't be completely resolved by race weekend. There are times we both feel lucky to pull things off when our work and personal lives are in balance. This year it would be impossible while still maintaining the level of quality we want for you.

While it's "just a bike race", it's also, selfishly, a party we throw for ourselves every spring. Many of you and our volunteers are (or will become) extended family and this is the one weekend we get to see many of you. Having one of the family members missing means that things wouldn't be the same for anyone.

Regarding next year. We have always said we'll decide about next year after the race is done. The good news is, we have a pretty good start on a potential route for 2027 😉. We appreciate the work you have put into preparing for this year's race, and also want to thank you for your continued support of our crazy grassroots event.

Time is running out! Registration for the 8th installment of Iowa Wind and Rock closes on Monday, Dec 1 at 5 PM CST. We would love to see you at the start line of one of the last old school gravel races in the midwest.
