It's been a busy summer here! Now that fall is settling in, here's a look back at everything that got accomplished at the Union Meeting House:

Painted Weathervane (120 ft in the air!)
Re-shingle damaged areas of steeple
Paint all white surfaces including and above the roof line, in full or as needed.
Block off 2 louvres with PVC panels to prevent rain intrusion in high wind.
Paint all 4 bell louvres.
Paint front and LH clock face, hands, digits
Paint all shutters on LH side, front side
Square all 6 shutters, screw tight to prevent sagging.
Touch up shutters on RH side
Paint exterior window sills on RH side (LH to be completed when windows are
removed for repair.
Repair corner trim rot (replace board)
Plane and reinforce entry doors
Paint door thresholds.
Pressure wash front stairs.
Pressure wash and paint back ramp with textured paint for safety. (Thanks Bob for your incredible donation of time)
Pressure wash hill stairs.
Pressure wash monument by street.
Remove and re-“plaster”areas with substantial cracking in ALL interior walls.
Repair water damaged ceiling and wall in foyer
Repaint all repaired areas.
Install lift handles on some interior windows.
Repaint all interior window sills
Remove non functioning door hardware, replace with “new" mortise lock sets and k***s
Repair old door patches with“seamless” patch.
Repaint green interior doors.
Install latch on LH exterior door, remove board blocking door.
All 6 windows rebuilt offsite, reglazed and reinstalled.
Forced air electric heat installed with upgraded electrical service.

Deep clean whole building after cleanup of debris.

None of this could have happened without the generous contributions of our board members, community volunteers, and gifts from those who care most about the meeting house and preserving its history! Thanks for keeping this part of Winterport vibrant and happening!

Friendly reminder- you do NOT need to use the stairs! Vehicle access is located at 12 Elm St. Reminder that:
Alan Orcutt is here at 6pm tonight for a town hall
AND
We are still accepting any candidate for public office at no charge until November 3.
AND
The WUMH does not support, oppose, or endorse any candidate, party or issue. We do not allow fundraising on behalf of political campaigns and we are a completely independent, neutral community-based historic nonprofit.

Good evening! Well- in case you haven’t been to the mailbox, turned on your TV, or looked in the medians- it is in fact election season.
We’re excited to be able to offer our beautiful space as a true Meeting House! A place for the public to come for the things that interest them or apply to them.
I just wanted to clarify three important things that pertain to our IRS status:

The Winterport Union Meeting House provides an equal opportunity to participate to all political candidates seeking the same office. This includes 3rd party moderators for all multi-candidate events.

WUMH does not support OR oppose any candidate, and no political fundraising occurs at candidate events.

Candidates of all parties and viewpoints are welcome.

Now, we have sent invites to every single candidate for every office and have only scheduled 2 events so far. Tag a candidate below and tell them you want to see them here before November 3.
