Local prizes will be awarded as well as entry to Midway USA's National Prize drawing! This yearly Memorial Shoot is in honor of the late Brett Bannon. Brett Bannon left us too soon on Tuesday, Oct. 15th, 2019. Brett was a man of faith and an incredible supporter of the outdoor way of life, and the rights of gun ownership. He was a beloved coach of the Cowley County 4-H Shooting Sports Club. He had
served 9 years with the club as a Kansas 4-H certified instructor as a pistol and muzzleloader coach also serving in leadership on the Parent Committee as the chair. During his time with the club, he served at the Kansas 4-H State level as a range officer at state level pistol matches. Brett represented the State of Kansas 4-H Shooting Sports as the state level coach to the Kansas 4-H National Shooting Sports Championships for several years. He acted as an assistant coach for the 2013 Kansas National Air Pistol Championship Team taking first in the nation, 2014 lead coach for the 2014 Kansas National Small Bore Pistol Championship Team taking first in the nation, 2018 lead coach for the 2018 Kansas National Hunting Skills Reserve Championship Team taking second in the nation, and the 2019 Kansas National Small Bore Pistol Team taking third in the nation. During his time as a National coach, he coached two National Individual Champions and two National Reserve Champions and was a positive influence to all the youth at the National event. Brett also served as a coach for the Cowley County 4-H Shooting Sports National Daisy team for the years 2016-2019 with a Cowley youth member receiving the 2019 National Daisy Shooting Education 100% perfect score. He helped to lead 22 different Cowley members to this National event over the last 4 summers.
