Meet Our Vendors: Notes On The Fringe

Based in Biddeford, Maine, Notes On The Fringe is a small weaving business owned and operated by Margaret Palola. I am a fiber artist with over 25 years' experience in weaving and crochet, and I specialize in translating sheet music into weaving patterns -- so if you have a favorite song, you can wear it! And even if music pieces aren't your style, you're guaranteed to find something you love!

Meet Our Vendors: Ellyn Cooper's Yarn Sonnets

Ellyn Cooper's Yarn Sonnets was created 28 years ago. The natural fiber yarns are dyed in rich color ways. It was once quoted by a local news paper the Hartford Current that “Ellyn Cooper’s Yarn Sonnets hand -dyed yarns are pure poetry”.The names of the yarn colors hand- dyed by Ellyn have poetic names such as Molten Lava, Chinese Poppy, and Sagebrush Lizard.Hand dying yarn is a natural outgrowth of Ellyn Cooper’s artwork.

Meet Our Vendors: Binding Tales

Binding Tales brings together children’s books and felting by Maine author, illustrator, and fiber artist, Hillary Dow. The illustrations in Hillary’s books are created by needle felting wool that is locally sourced from Maine fiber farms, fairs and festivals. From Farm to Bookshelf. As the illustrations are developed, Hillary captures her process in videos and still images that are compiled with tips and instructions to offer online felting lessons. Throughout the year, Hillary can be found presenting her process and reading books at author visits, teaching in-person felting lessons, exhibiting and selling her books and artwork at select festivals… while also enjoying a full-time marketing career and a busy family life. This will be Hillary’s second time exhibiting at the Maine Fiber Frolic, and she is eager to share her latest products with everyone: felting kits, art prints, and notecards!

As the festival draws near, we wanted to remind everyone that we will be holding a niddy-noddy winding contest on Saturday and Sunday at noon. Be the fastest to wind your yarn and win a $15 voucher to use at the fair. If you're second fastest, you get $10. Bring your own niddy-noddy that winds a 2-yard skein. We will have a few extras to borrow if you don't have one.

Meet Our Vendors: Knit Fit

Knit Fit is a unique company that blends the calming art of knitting with the refreshing activity of walking. The idea of “taking your yarn for a walk” was born from my desire to merge these two activities in a fun and accessible way, inviting knitters to step outside, enjoy nature and engage in a relaxing yet energizing hobby.
I offer a variety of bags all specially designed with ergonomics in mind for being out and about with your knitting. The most popular Knit Fit bag is a lightweight portable bag that swings from your wrist with detachable mini scissors, a stitch holder, row counter and ruler print lining. I also have a Stitch and Go tote with carabiners that fasten to your belt loops. My latest design is a colorful crossbody sling bag with multiple pockets and scissors.
