Happy National Farmers Day! 🍎

The Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival wouldn’t be possible without the farmers and orchardists who help make the Shenandoah Valley such a special place.

Today, we’re celebrating the people behind the apples, including our friends at Mackintosh Fruit Farm and Richard's Fruit Market. A special thank you to Mackintosh for welcoming us to the orchard for this year’s Orchard Tours and sharing a closer look at the work behind every harvest.

Thank you to our local apple farmers for all you do for our community and for Apple Blossom!

11 days. That’s all it took to plan the very first Apple Blossom Festival. 🤯

On April 22, 1924, Wi******er citizens voted to hold a festival. By May 3, they had a parade, a Queen crowning, dancing, fireworks and 30,000 people in attendance. Now, more than 100 years later, the Bloom welcomes an audience of 250,000+.

From 11 days of planning to more than a century of tradition. What do you think those first Festival organizers would say if they could see the Bloom today? 💗💚

🌸As we look forward to celebrating the 100th Festival in 2027, we look back at memories of past festivals and the people who have made this celebration special.

Do you remember Roy Nester? Nester was a local disc jockey that served as the town crier in the Grand Feature Parade for 50 years! Nester only missed one year during that time. The last year he rode through the parade was in 2008, when he rode on a golf cart at 83 years old. Sadly, he passed away in 2016. 🌸🩷

"I thought you just celebrated 100 years?"... a common question we hear and a very valid one! In 2024, the Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival® did celebrate 100 years of the festival, as our very first festival was in 1924. Due to the canceled festivals in the early 1940s, we just kicked off the Centennial Extravaganza with the Pink Tie Gala and are so excited to be celebrating our 100th festival THIS year! 🌸
