Don't forget to check out this weekends Shenandoah Valley Runners race! The 19th Annual Greasy-Gooney 10K ... One of my favorites!

As quoted from Greasy-Gooney 10K - "The Shenandoah Valley's most scenic road race! Held at the height of the fall foliage season, the 19th annual Greasy-Gooney 10K 2017 will take place at 9:00 AM on Saturday 28 October 2017 in Browntown, Virginia, about eight miles south of Front Royal (an hour west of the DC Beltway). Our somewhat challenging 6.2 mile road race loops through the foothills of the Blue Ridge, treating runners to gorgeous views of the mountains and countryside. We'll have awards for the top three overall and for the top three in mostly five-year age groups, plus some cheap random prizes. Entry fees with the race premium (a navy blue embroidered knit cap) are $20 early and $25 on race day, and without the premium it's only $12 early and $17 race day. $2 discount for SVR members; $1 discount for most VA/MD/DC running clubs. We would like to extend our appreciation to everyone that came out for the 8th annual Care2Cure HD 5K on Saturday! It was a beautiful morning with perfect weather and a great atmosphere of friends! The race was amazing! 500 dollars in prize money was awarded, 2 pairs of shoes were given away, and more than 200 dollars in gifts from Runners' Retreat were handed out to those who came out to participate!

The men just missed the top ten course times, but cleared the course with awesome speed! Bennett Umhau led the field and took the payout with a time of 16:44! Bennett was followed by Alex Lane (17:47) and Charles The Bowles (18:24) to round out the top three men.

The women's course record was crushed this year by more than 30 seconds as Courtney Thompson cruised in with an 18:49 and showed the field how to do it, as she snatched the fourth overall position! Courtney was followed in by Michelle Van Horn (20:08) and Josie Gray (20:25)!

Thanks again to all of you who came out to support the Care2Cure HD 5K! Without all of the runners, walkers, sponsors, and contributors, we would not be able to put on such a great race like this, or give out all of these awesome prizes that we do!
