A Celebration of Women’s Choral Excellence Across Delaware
On Sunday afternoon, the Music School’s two premier women’s choruses—Cantabile, representing southern Delaware, and the Delaware Women’s Chorus, representing New Castle County—came together for a beautiful concert at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Lewes, celebrating the school’s commitment to exceptional choral music across the state.
The program featured performances by each choir individually, as well as a powerful combined choir presentation. Audiences also enjoyed featured solo performances by Amy Baker-Sheridan, Sara Brown, Shayla Caple, Sharon Keeler, Kelley Mallon, Kelsey Oldland, and Elyse Poinsett.
Special thanks to guest instrumentalists George Freeman, double bass, and Scotty Horey, percussion, for adding depth and artistry to the afternoon’s program.
Under the extraordinary direction of Joanne Ward, and with the expert accompaniment of Georgiana Ibach, the choirs delivered a memorable and moving performance. A deeply gifted musician, inspiring conductor, and devoted champion of choral artistry, Joanne has shaped and strengthened the choruses in immeasurable ways.
During the concert, it was shared that Joanne will be stepping down from her role as Music Director of the Delaware Women’s Chorus. While she will be deeply and sincerely missed, her musical legacy and impact on generations of singers will continue to resonate for years to come.
Congratulations to Joanne, Georgiana, and our phenomenal singers for an inspiring afternoon of music—and heartfelt thanks to Joanne for her exceptional leadership, artistry, and dedication.
