TRINITY SUNDAY MUSIC: Brass quartet, violin, choir & handbells!

This coming Sunday, May 31, at our special 9:30 am Holy Trinity service, we will be joined by a brass quartet and violin to celebrate the Rite of Confirmation, the annual visit by Bishop Brown and the end of the choir and handbell seasons on our parish’s title Sunday! CINCO DE MAYO! Música y danza! Trinity Episcopal Parish in Wilmington DE has been home to a Latino congregation for more than 30 years. They worship in Spanish, using the approved Spanish version of The Book of Common Prayer, and they have their own liturgical music. The Episcopal Church has had a formal presence in Mexico since the 1870s; in 1995, Mexican Anglicans across five dioceses became the Anglican Church of Mexico, a province of the worldwide Anglican Communion. Most of the Latino congregation at Trinity Wilmington hail from Mexico, so they celebrate Cinco de Mayo con gusto – and so they did on Sunday with a potluck dance party following Sunday Misa. Big turnout, service tables groaning with an abundance of delicious homemade dishes (muchas gracias, cocineras!), a mariachi band, festive ethnic apparel, line dancing. In sum: A wonderful event. PHOTOS: Food line, food table, mariachi musicians, dancing. (The winner here is the shot of Father Kirtley getting his groove on with the line dancers.)
