The annual festival provides a non-competitive environment to honor and support artists. Review your performances. Look over your workshop proposals. 🎬Cinematique of Wilmington Film Series's summer lineup kicks off next month with Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho, the chilling classic that changed horror forever.

Catch one of two screenings and stick around for a post-film discussion with UNCW Film Studies Chair Juan Carlos Kase. Plus, enjoy our Cinematique Social Hour from 6–7:15pm at Jengo’s Bar.

The Cinematique summer lineup begins with two screenings of Psycho, the genre-defining thriller that transformed horror filmmaking. Both screenings will be followed by a discussion led by Juan Carlos Kase, Associate Professor and Chair of Film Studies at the University of North Carolina Wilmington.

Stay after the matinee or show up early for the evening screening to enjoy the Cinematique Social Hour from 6:00 p.m. -7:15 p.m. in the Jengo's Bar (we'll provide the snacks!)

⭐ Today, Cucalorus celebrates Juneteenth and the legacy of the United States Colored Troops, whose courage and sacrifice helped make freedom a reality for millions of Americans.

Approximately 500 USCT soldiers are buried at Wilmington National Cemetery, a powerful reminder of their impact on our community and our country.

Want to learn more? Join us at Jengo's Playhouse on Friday, June 26 for a screening of the Wilmington-made documentary LEGACY, which tells the stories of USCT soldiers and the communities they helped build across eastern North Carolina. ❤️

Join us on Friday, June 26 for a special screening of Legacy, a compelling short doc from filmmaker Adam Alphin that brings to life the voices and experiences of descendants of the United States Colored Troops.

Produced by Daniel Jones and Heather Wilson, Legacy examines the enduring influence of USCT soldiers and their families through stories connected to the Cape Fear region.

Afterwards, join us for a discussion about uncovering these histories, the filmmaking process, and how CAM continues to preserve and share this legacy.

Catch The Long Walk: A Dance with Humanities at the 8th annual Lumbee Film Festival on Saturday, July 4 at 3:15 PM at UNC Pembroke. This moving documentary follows six runner-messengers as they honor the survivors of The Navajo Long Walk and celebrate the perseverance of the Diné people.
