Beyond Juneteenth is not a campaign. It's an Egungun festival and a family reunion across time.

It's what happens when people remember that our history did not begin in bo***ge and our identity cannot be reduced to a single date on a calendar.

Our ancestors existed before Juneteenth and they continue to matter Beyond Juneteenth.

Beyond Juneteenth simply asks a larger question:

What happened before the chains?�What happened after freedom papers?�What traditions, languages, ceremonies, foods, songs, and spirits survived anyway?

The answer is what happens on this lawn at the Delaware Art Museum every year when we realize we are who we always have been.

I am so ecstatic to announce that I am The proud recipient of the 302 We See You Awards: Rock Artist of the Year award 2025-2026! Wow! 25 years ago on this day of May 21st I started my journey as Rock singer/songwriter/guitarist GhettoSongBird. Although I was told that there was no place for me as a sister Rockin’ with an electric guitar in the early 2000’s, I never stopped!!!Between all the isms, many opportunities were lost because I didn’t conform. A plethora of amazing experiences were gained because I always stayed true to myself. What a wonderful way to start celebrating my 25th Anniversary of Rockin’! My gratitude overflows to everyone supported my Rock Her-Story past and present. Thank you to my Roxsplotation Band: Drummer extraordinaire/supportive partner in rhyme Ronin Ali, Keyboard wonder/bestie Chris Nelson, my ultra talented sons H-FaM and my mega creative daughter photographer/videographer Lihlo for Rockin’ with me on and off stage! Thank you to my mentors including my Foxy Mama, Shock, Caz, MJ and the late great Rosa Lee Brooks for all the lessons and blessings. It’s loading time…

One thing I truly love about hosting the Beyond Juneteenth at the is that, rain or shine, we are still going to be venerating, appeasing, and celebrating our ancestors, communally.

The venue is so expansive and beautiful that even the rain has been accounted for. The indoor layout is already mapped out, so we won’t miss a single drumbeat.

Please don’t let the blessing of the rain (water from heaven) hold you back. During this tense political season and all tupes of societal events causing a divide among humanity, this festival l is exactly what we need. We need the divine assistance of those whose sacred job it is from the beyond to help guide our steps.

Vendors, please arrive afterer 4pm tonight or by 1pm on Thursday and thank you to all of you who support the mission of tbia festival. I love you.

This is not just entertainment. It’s a live Egbe Egungun Festival that calls spirit forward and leads with facts.

Juneteenth wasn’t about freeing slaves. Many of us were already free. We were victims of genocide, not property.We come together to remember, to educate, and to awaken spiritual faculties the traditional way.
