There’s something powerful about people coming together. ✨
A conversation can spark encouragement.
A gathering can create connection.
A shared space can remind someone they belong.
At Plaza on Princess, we believe community is more than an event — it’s where hope, support, and meaningful moments begin. 🤍

As part of their Health & Human Services Week, we were honored to welcome representatives from the UNCW College of Health and Human Services (CHHS) for their Day of Service! Their team spent the day on our campus helping with beautification projects as we get ready for spring.

This year’s theme, *Health Without Borders: Connecting People, Professions, and Places*, beautifully reflects the spirit of collaboration that strengthens our community.

A heartfelt thank you to the CHHS community engagement team for their hard work and to Novant Health for sponsoring this meaningful week of service and connection!

As we honor Martin Luther King Jr. Day on January 19th, we wanted to take a moment to share some of our favorite accounts of Dr. King’s life and legacy:

📖 "My Life with Martin Luther King, Jr." by Coretta Scott King
📖 "King: A Life" by Jonathan Eig
📖 "The Autobiography of Martin Luther King, Jr." edited by Clayborne Carson

If you’re looking for more ways to honor the day, you can visit thekingcenter.org for ideas, events, and resources.

Please note that in honor of the holiday, our office is closed on Monday, January 19th. We’ll be back on Tuesday, January 20th, and look forward to connecting with you then.

We share the passing of a dear friend to the Harrelson Center, Bobbie Queen. We are grateful to all those who have loved and cared for her.

Bobbie was incredibly supportive of her husband Mike Queen and his ministry. One of those ministries was the founding of the Harrelson Center in 2005. Bobbie was known for her unique creative contributions to the Harrelson Center, specifically the shadow boxes she crafted using original NHC jail keys. These gifts serve as a beautiful tribute to our mission’s journey—transforming a place of confinement into a center of hope and empowerment.
