🕉Today is World Meditation Day 🧘. It is interesting that while the longest day of the year, June 21st, is observed as International Yoga Day, the shortest day, Dec 21st, is celebrated as World Meditation Day.🧘‍♂️ These special days help us recommit to our practice with fresh enthusiasm and energy and jointly inspire with the greater community.

We were thrilled to host the 3-day Women's Seeker retreat organized by Chinmaya Mission where over 80 ladies of all ages gathered to discover ways to find their inner self, improve wellness, and maintain mental calm as they face life's challenges.

The day started with yoga and meditation, followed by lectures on teachings from Vedas/Vedanta based on the life of great women gurus. The women also discussed these topics in breakout sessions. Many ladies also went on a walk post-lunch in the beautiful environs of Abhyudaya. And in spite of the chilly weather, they gathered outside for a fireside fun and games.

All our 38 beds were occupied and the women volunteered to cook and serve the food. It was a fulfilling retreat! Due to popular demand, the retreat will be repeated again in Nov 2025! Watch this space for the announcement.

Our inaugural International Yoga Day Celebrations last night was very well-attended and received. Several attendees tried out several yoga, pranayama and meditation classes taught by very capable and generous teachers.
The place was lively with discussions on wellness and, of course, enjoying the delicious food.

Chinmaya Abhyudaya's mission is to be a center for wellness in Chicagoland. With that goal, we invite you to join us for the International Yoga Day celebrations on Jun 21st 4-8pm. Whether you are a complete beginner, a regular practitioner, an expert, or a yoga instructor, a child, adult or a senior, you are most welcome!

We will feature a series of sample classes by experienced and empathetic yoga teachers for all levels and age groups so you can either try yoga and pranayama (breathing) or get specific help for your issues. We will also have nutritional snacks and beverages for you to try. And it is all FREE! (voluntary donations welcome)
