🦋 Great Blue Heron Sanctuary:
Blue Heron Holler is privileged to be home to a thriving heronry, where several hundred nests adorn the riverbanks of the East Fork of the Little Miami River. A short walk from your doorstep unveils a world of wonder, as these elegant creatures gracefully occupy the treetops.
📸 Up Close and Personal:
Bring your binoculars and cameras as you follow the pedestrian road to the left, leading you to the riverbank. Stay left, and at the end of the road to the right, a path takes you deep into the heart of the heronry, where over 100 nests await your admiration. Capture these awe-inspiring moments as the herons flutter from tree to tree, revealing their majestic presence.
🗓️ Season of Wonder:
From Valentine's Day to mid-July, witness the herons in various stages of their life cycle. March and April unveil the art of nest building, while May and June become a spectacle of adults bringing food to the nests. By early July, the young take flight, completing the mesmerizing cycle of life.
