Join Colonial National Historical Park and Bike Walk Williamsburg in celebrating this year’s National Park Week by strolling, rolling, biking or walking seven miles of the Colonial Parkway. During this three-day event, the Colonial Parkway will be closed to vehicle access between Highway 199/Kingspoint and Route 359 at Jamestown beginning at 7 am on Friday, April 22 and ending at 6 pm on Sunday, April 24.
The National Park Service encourages visitors and community members to recreate responsibly when on NPS managed lands, including the Colonial Parkway. Face masks are required when physical distance cannot be maintained. Whether seeking wide-open spaces or exploring historic areas, visitors should follow CDC guidelines to reduce the spread of COVID-19.
Courtesy of Bike Walk Williamsburg, there will be a portable restroom and handwashing station available at Archer’s Hope. Visitors may use the indoor restrooms at the Jamestown Island Visitor Center from 9 am to 5 pm daily.
Free parking is available at the Jamestown Settlement, 2110 Jamestown Road and at the NPS Visitor Center on Jamestown Island. For more information about National Park Week visit nps.gov/npweek and nationalparkweek.org.
In addition - this year the annual "Bikes Out of Hibernation" event co-sponsored by the Williamsburg Area Bicyclists, James City County Parks & Recreation and BikeWalk Williamsburg will be held co-incident with Pedal the Parkway on Saturday, April 23 from 9 AM to 1 PM. Take advantage of the totally FREE opportunity to get your bicycle professionally inspected by representatives from several area bicycle shops. Contes, Trek and Jimmyz Mobile will also make free minor adjustments as needed. Furthermore, WAB and BikeWalk Williamsburg will offer free helmets and helmet fittings! Don't miss this opportunity to get ready for the 2022 bicycling season! No registration required - just come on down!
