The town of Westphalia is honoring one of its most beloved citizens, Tip Weber, as Grand Marshal of the 2025 Christmas on Main Parade. At nearly 92 years old, Tip Weber’s life story is a testament to dedication, community spirit, and the enduring values that have shaped Westphalia into the vibrant town it is today.
Born and raised in Westphalia, Tip Weber comes from a family deeply rooted in public service—his father, Matt Weber, served as the town’s Marshall for many years, earning $25 a month and providing his own car and gas. Tip himself is a lifelong member of St. Joseph parish and entered the workforce after completing eighth grade, hanging drywall, driving a school bus and pumping gas before purchasing the gas station and turning it into a hub for local farmers by repairing and selling farm equipment.
Throughout his life, Tip Weber has worn many hats in service to his hometown. He served on the City Council, Street Department, and St. Joseph School Board, often rising before dawn to clear snow from the streets and church parking lot in his younger years. His commitment to community safety and comfort has been felt by generations of residents.
Tip’s legacy also includes co-founding Westphalia’s first Tractor Pull with Skeezix Berhorst, a tradition that continues to bring excitement to the town today. He has been an active member of the Lions Club and Knights of Columbus for many years, further demonstrating his dedication to civic engagement.
In the early 1980s, Tip Weber helped usher Westphalia into the modern era by leasing land for a tower that brought cable TV to the community. Together with his wife Mary (Schneider), Tip raised five children in Westphalia and built the successful Weber Equipment Company before retiring to enjoy farming, hunting, fishing, and playing cards.
As Grand Marshal, Tip Weber will lead the Christmas on Main Parade, a fitting tribute to a man whose life and work helped shape the heart and soul of Westphalia. Residents and visitors alike are invited to join in celebrating Tip’s remarkable journey and the many ways he has enriched the community.
