A Heartfelt Announcement from Dale’s Weston Lanes: Founder Dale Elliott Retires as His Daughter, Sarah Elliott, Steps Into Leadership
Weston, WI — 12.30.25 — After more than 35 years of passion, dedication, and unwavering commitment, Dale Elliott, founder of Dale’s Weston Lanes, has announced his retirement effective January 1, 2026. Since opening the doors in 1989, Dale has poured his heart into building not just a business, but a home for families, friends, and bowlers from every corner of the community. Dale’s Weston Lanes has long been a gathering place where memories are made and stories are shared. Much of that warmth and family spirit comes directly from Dale & his wife Joyce—Their love for the community and for the sport of bowling has touched thousands over the decades.
Dale Started his 50 year bowling career in Merrill (1975) and has owned and operated Weston Lanes since 1989. While many great things happened during the growth of the operation from 16 lanes to 60 lanes, one almost ended the whole operation when fire destroyed the building in 2007. However with the help of the community, family, friends and employees the center was rebuilt even stronger! Since 1989 Dale has served both the Bowling Proprietors of America, Bowling Centers of Wisconsin in many officer positions as well as the President of the Central Wisconsin Visitors Bureau. His greatest honor was given to him in 2010 as The Bowling Center Magazine Proprietor of the Year.
As Dale steps back from day-to-day operations, the time has come to pass the torch to the 2nd generation who brings a younger perspective and great new ideas to our incredible building! He is passing the torch to someone who shares his passion and his heart: his daughter, Sarah Elliott. Beginning January 1st, 2026, Sarah will take the lead, continuing the legacy her parents have built.
“This place has always been more than lanes and pins—it’s been a second home,” Dale said. “I’m incredibly proud to see Sarah carry forward what our family started. And even though I’m retiring, I’m not disappearing. You’ll still see me around—on the lanes, talking with bowlers, and cheering on this amazing community.”
Dale will also continue to serve in important community roles, including his work as President of the Marathon Co Tavern League, Jem Foundation, a 501C3 Charitable Organization in his late son's name Jason Elliott, along with other positions that allow him to give back to the people and the sport he loves.
Under Sarah’s leadership, Dale’s Weston Lanes will remain a family-owned and family-led business, just as it has been since 1989. Sarah brings her own energy and vision while staying deeply committed to the values, relationships, and heartfelt service that customers have cherished for decades.
The Elliott family extends their deepest gratitude to everyone who has supported them—the loyal bowlers, the families who grew up at the lanes, the leagues, the teams, and the community that has stood beside them for 35 years. Your support has made Dale’s Weston Lanes what it is today & we hope you are ready for many more years of strikingly fun times to come.
