Get to know Megan Foelber for Carroll County Commissioner.
Early voting starts tomorrow, so I wanted to share a little bit more about me and why I've spent my career in public service.
I went into public service because I love the impact that can be made through government that serves all. In my first career, I taught American government. The political process was something I watched from the outside, but when I moved to working for the government, I found that I liked being in the depths of things. Rather than fighting political battles, I enjoyed working on ways that we make government work better, one action at a time.
It was my career, I earned a Master's in Public Administration (MPA) and became a certified Project Management Professional (PMP), to further my skills in building effective organizations and implementing beneficial programs to further the mission of the organization.
Sometimes that work was on big things like implementing new legislation and programs, working to build organizations, and putting new efforts and resources toward major changes. These were always exciting projects.
Sometimes it was overhauling programs to work better, finding ways to meet organizational needs within the law and policies. These would often happen through cross disciplinary teams working together.
Most often, it was in small things like making tweaks to processes, identifying and working to solve the root cause of an issue or better communicating something to those involved. I was always most fulfilled when there was something new to solve.
I bring this energy to the campaign, and I'd bring it to office. I look forward to the opportunity for a new set of challenges. Over any politics, I hope for the chance to get to define a path forward: where we can focus on good, effective government that serves its constituents first.
I encourage all to make a plan to vote in the primary if you are registered with a party. Your vote always matters.
