Downtown Artist Spotlight ๐ Alexis Ansay!
Alexis Ansay is a self-taught artist who discovered her talent during the quarantine. Initially focused on portraiture, Alexis captured the essence of people and animals through intricate pencil sketches. Over time, her artistic practice evolved, and she found inspiration in transforming recycled materials into new, meaningful art. Today, she creates a diverse range of works, from zines and wall hangings to mixed-media collages, all crafted from repurposed materials. Through her art and repurposed art workshops, Alexis encourages others to reimagine everyday waste as a medium for creativity, bringing new life into discarded objects and inspiring sustainable artistic practices.
At her new art space Studio 209 at 47 High St, both artists Alexis Ansay & Jessie LaValley find inspiration from items that are on their way to the landfill or have already been littered in our community. Giving new life to what is traditionally viewed as waste allows them to stay resourceful in their craft while inspiring others to do the same!
