Congrats to Luke Lamperti on becoming the U.S. Criterium Professional National Champion! As Northern California racer since he was just old enough to enter races, many of us have had the pleasure of watching him develop over the years and have enjoyed watching him lap experienced racers many times his age! :-)

Congratulation to Luke and the Lamperti family on this accomplishment!

NORCALCX STATEMENT CALLING ON EQUAL TREATMENT OF TRANSGENDER ATHLETES AT CX WORLDS 2022:

NORCALCX supports transgender athletes. Period.

We applaud Brook Watts and Kristin Diamond for all they have done for our sport and regret that they have been forced to step away from producing the 2022 UCI World Cyclocross Championships in Fayattevelle, Arkansas, due to the discriminatory treatment of transgender athletes under new laws in that state.

One of the core reasons NORCALCX stepped-up to create a major USAC/UCI race – West Sacramento Cyclocross Grand Prix - was to advance equity in our sport and lead by example.

It is important for all athletes to be able to compete in a non-exclusionary space. None of us are equal unless everyone is equal.

The team producing Worlds CX is stepping aside from one of the biggest races ever in the U.S. advances that same notion of fairness and treating people with respect and dignity.

The National Collegiate Athletic Association, the International Olympic and Paralympic Committee, and even the National Interscholastic Cycling Association, and USA Cycling, all have rules that allow transgender people to participate in sports. USA Cycling and the Union Cycliste International should assure major events happen in areas that do not discriminate.

NORCALCX is proud to be associated with so many athletes and members of the cycling community who stand up for what is right, treat transgender and non-binary people in a humane and respectful manner, and who refuse to let antiquated biases be an excuse for discrimination.

We suggest that CX Worlds be moved to a state such as California that respects and welcomes the place of transgender and non-binary people in our sport.

Due to construction on the course (in three different spots!) we had to "press pause" for 2019. As soon as its all put back together we'll announce dates for 2020.

Our event site will be improved with a new dock to watch the race from and a new hotel to stay overnight on site!

Here are some photos of the course construction that prevented us from safely hosting a race this year. WE'LL BE BACK!:

WSCXGP will be providing the soundtrack at the Society of People Who Actually Make Their Own S**t (SOPWAMTOS) party tonight. To honor the spirit of the event we will only be spinning records by bands who actually make their own stuff - self-released vinyl by bands (or DIY-enabled labels like Sacramento Records) that make and release their own music spinning all night!

Gina the Gadget Girl has been one of our long time vendors. She is out at the race every year adding to the fun. She braves all weather - heat and wind - to give you a booth to shop at.

One year, her table was blown over five times and even though she never complained, we are sure that she lost much more in broken merch and display stands than she made in sales.

Anyhow, we encourage people to support companies that support cyclocross, so if you are looking for cool bike related swag as your season gears up, give her page a look!
