What a wonderful turnout yesterday ! I met so many of Terry's friends, reconnected with old friends, heard a lot of great memories about him & laughed a lot. Yes, a few tears were shed reminising about him...especially the one Russ Brown shared with me, but mostly we all celebrated his life in the way he loved the most....a casual gathering with friends, music & food.
The day met all of my expectations & it would not have been possible without the help of C.J & Holly Johnson who graciously opened up their home to us.
CJ was the master chef & cooked up the most delicious BBQ, sliders with special dressing, bacon wrapped chicken thighs cole slaw & other tasty treats! Holly's chocolate cake was out of this world & during the event she made sure everyone was comfortable & having fun & magically kept bring more food out of the kitchen. Sherry Hannah made peach cobbler & old fashioned nanner puddin and several folks brought dishes to add to the spread. I lost track of who brought what so forgive me for not aclnowledging everyone by name.
Others helped with food prep Fri nite set up Sat morning & clean up afterwards.
C.J's collective group of live musicians provided some soulful music mixed with R&B,funk, rock, vocals & harp by C.J and recordings of The Fish Camp Band during breaks. It's amazing that an eclectic group of musicians, some who have never played together before, can come together and make such great sounds. Truely entertaining. The only thing missing was T-Roy pounding the keys & joining in with his deep gravelly voice.
One last HUGE heartfelt Thank You to everyone that made this day possible and a special Thanks to everyone that shared this day with us & T-Roy.
If you took pics or videos feel free to share them on this page.
