Prairie Arts Festival September 5, 2026, Labor Day Saturday in downtown West Point, Mississippi. 200 vendors ~ juried fine arts, handmade crafts, food, music, 5k Run, and Kidstown.

With 200 juried fine arts, handmade crafts, and food vendors, this festival has been a tradition in downtown West Point since 1979. The Prairie Arts Festival is recognized as one of the "Top Twenty Events" according to the Southeastern Tourism Association. This award winning festival in Mississippi attracts crowds of more than 20,000, and is held each year on the Saturday before Labor Day in West Point's beautiful historic downtown. Prairie Arts Festival is a celebration of community, the arts, food, fun for all ages, a 5k run, and music around every corner. This is a family friendly event, but please no pets; dogs are not permitted at the Festival per The City of West Point, with the exception of service animals.

You're never too old (or young) to ride the Prairie Arts train. It's Festival tradition and only a $1 to ride from 9:30am to 3:30pm! Thank you to Junior Auxiliary of West Point volunteers who sell tickets and city employees who drive the train through the Festival.

Last year Cassandra Harris Painted Daisy Studio from Steens, MS set up at Prairie Arts Festival for the first time. This year she is back, with lots of colors and patterns and whimsy, paintings, book marks, and tiny sayings in booth #46 in the Street near City Hall. The 5K Run starts the Prairie Arts Festival off every year at 8:00am, with lots of energy. With an average of 200-300 runners everyone is in it to win it, whether trying to win overall, place in their age category, beat a personal time, or just enjoy the tradition of a Festival weekend. With that many runners, pre-registration is strongly encouraged to make race day a smooth process; you will still check in at the registration table to get your bib number and t-shirt if pre-registered by the deadline. And if you are still thinking about running and will register the morning of the race please plan to come early- registration starts at 6:45am and cuts off at 7:30am so volunteers can enter information and start the race on time. And last, a big thank you to our 5K run sponsors - you will see their signs on the route through downtown, along with other fun things to watch for. We ❤️ PAF runners!

Elisa Mason is a painter from Gulfport, MS who was a vendor at Prairie Arts in the early 2000's. After a career in nursing Elisa has returned to painting full time and returning this year to be a juried fine arts vendor. With her watercolors and oils inspired by Mississippi, the Coast, and things her eye captures as an artist find Elisa in booth #38 in the Park just over the bridge.
