The Officers of the Velveteens present Chief Ole Timpanko and his wife, Cece with 25 pounds of organic seeds for the Massai people of Africa from our corporate Seed Sponsors High Mowing and Lake Valley Organic Seed. The Velveteens run a seed bank to try and make a difference in world hunger issues and have sent seeds all over the world, including Zimbabwe, Nepal, South America, Liberia, Schools in Kansas, the NJ Agricultural Foundation, and our own township library. Right now we are working to try and bring 4-H to the Massai children of the Amberseli region of Kenya.

It has been a tough year for the Velveteens since our farmer friend, Randy Van Riper, died March 14. The Velveteens have spent the past 5 years working with Randy and learning how to grow flowers, herbs, and vegetables. We miss you, Randy. The world was a more beautiful place with you in it.
