Today is International Hamburger Day! 🍔🔥

We want to give a special thank you to Howard County’s cattle farmers. Your hard work, dedication, and commitment to local agriculture help bring high-quality beef from local farms to tables across our community every day. 💗

Last year, the Howard County Office of Agriculture highlighted our farmers by hosting the first-ever Farm-to-Fork Face-Off at the Howard County Fair, where three dynamic local chefs competed for the title of Best Burger. It was a fun event, the turnout was incredible, and Chef Rob from Woodstock Inn took the win. 🏆

This year, we’re back at it again—but we’re switching things up.
The Farm-to-Fork Face-Off returns this August at the Fair; this time as an epic steak showdown for the title of Howard County’s Best Steak. 🥩

Before the grill fires up, the Howard County Office of Agriculture is selecting chefs for this sizzling competition featuring locally raised beef, fresh-picked produce, and your signature style. Selected chefs will receive promotion across Howard County channels, press coverage, prizes, and serious local bragging rights.

We’re looking for chefs with flavor, flair, grill skills, and of course HoCo pride. Whether you represent a restaurant, food truck, or catering company… this is your chance to showcase your talent in front of a live crowd.

Think you have what it takes to claim the 2026 title? Send us a DM or email [email protected] with the subject line: Best Steak 2026.

🍴Do you know a chef who makes a mouthwatering steak? Tag them in the comments and let them know Howard County is looking for its next Farm-to-Fork Face-Off champion.

Stay tuned to for more details! The Roving Radish

April 22nd marks the 56th anniversary of Earth Day. The global theme this year is “OUR POWER, OUR PLANET,” which focuses on the collective daily activities of individuals and communities rather than just government programs.

We are the stewards of nature, plants, and our lands and the responsibility lies with each of us to implement sustainable solutions that protect our health, our land and public safety. Our planet needs our help to thrive for future generations.

If everyone does a little, together we are the power. Start today and make every day Earth Day!

Spring…the season of renewal. Temperatures gradually rise, with a mix of sunshine and rain. Hours of daylight increase as the season approaches the summer solstice. Dormant trees and plants grow fresh leaves and flowers start blooming, such as cherry blossoms and daffodils. Animals emerge from hibernation, migratory birds return, and many species bear young due to increased food availability.

Enjoy the beauty of the season as the earth awakens from the cold winter months.

Hope it’s a lucky day for you!! ☘️
