Steel City Pullers

Steel City Pullers We are a group of pullers in southwestern Pennsylvania. We pull tractors ranging from antique/farm s See the website for complete rules and classes.

Our pulls provide a place for people and fans alike to get a start in pulling on a local level. Bone stock tractors/trucks can be driven to the track and hook to the sled, or high-performance, competition-only vehicles can hook as well. Many of the pullers here are somewhere in between stock and all-out performance, trying to work their way up to the big leagues or just wanting to see how far a street/farm used machine can be pushed.

Our condolences to the Dille family during this difficult time.

Glenn was a mainstay on the West Alexander Fair Board for years and an integral part of the grandstand events, particularly the tractor and truck pulls.

He will be missed. Godspeed, Glenn.

Thank you to all that made Saturday’s pull a success: the behind the scenes help, track crew, and the pullers themselves for turning out in great numbers. We had 184 hooks for the 2025 installment of the Ethan Day Memorial Pull.

Our next event is a week away, although the West Alexander Fair opens on Monday.

Join us for the truck pull at 7:00 Friday night with 6 classes of competition: Street Gas, 8500 # Street Diesel, Open Gas, 8000 # Hot Diesel (2.5), and “Run What Ya Brung.” Also joining the mix will be 9500 Hot Farm Tractors.

On Saturday, the Farm Stock tractor pull will close out the grandstand events for the 2025 edition of the fair. Scheduled start time is 2 p.m.

There are several misprints in the fair book, therefore some clarifications are in order.

There is a two-hook limit. We will be running a 4500 lb. class, stock and open. Class order will be the same as last year, with 4500 first, followed by 5500, then a jump to 11,500, just as printed in the fair book. 4500, 5500 and 7500 stock classes are 4 mph. 9500 stock class has a 5 mph speed limit. 11,500, 13,500 and 15,000 are 6 mph.

Two of the stock classes will award special trophies to the winners. The George Marth Memorial Trophy will be awarded to the winner of the 7500 stock class and the Ethan Day Memorial Trophy goes to the winner of the 9500 stock class. The winner gets to keep their respective trophy for the entire year until the next fair. We ask for the the winners of those classes to have their tractor nearby for a brief trophy presentation.

Grover was a mainstay for the local pulling community and made the trip to West Alexander many times for both our pulls and for the fair, whether it was as a competitor or to watch his son Wes.

Our condolences go out to the Binkey family in their time of grief.

View Grover T. Binkey's obituary, send flowers, find service dates, and sign the guestbook.

Thank you to all that helped make this event possible.

Additionally, anyone running in an open class for the farm stock pull must have a kill switch.
