Mary Beth Logue, a mid-distance sled dog racer from Trout Run, held a demonstration on Saturday, Feb. 26 at Darling Run on the Pine Creek trail.

A huge thanks to everyone that came out to meet the sled dogs at the Darling Run Access and the Burnin’ Barrel restaurant yesterday. We had a blast and the dogs loved making new friends. A special thanks to Liz and Rich for all their support and help.

Ice is not nice. 🤨 It is with great disappointment that the Canyon Sled Dog Challenge is cancelled. The conditions on the trail would not allow for a safe event. The dogs are always first and the trail conditions would not allow for the musher to have enough control. We are sad to cancel, but know it is best. We hope to see you next year.

If you would like to meet some sled dogs and see the equipment, a couple of mushers will be at Darling Run Access on Saturday at 9 a.m. and at the Burnin’ Barrel around 11 a.m. Thanks for all of your support of this event.

We are working on organizing the event for Saturday, February 26, 2022. The schedule and rules will be the same as previous years. Also, we are looking for any volunteers to help.

We’re looking forward to 2022 and planning for the Canyon Sled Dog Challenge. Sorry that the event will not happening in 2021. The 2022 date will be announced later. Until then we wish you good health and much happiness.

A huge thank you to both old and new friends for supporting the Canyon Sled Dod Challenge. A great time was had by both the dogs and humans at the Darling Run Access and the Burnin’ Barrel. Next year we hope to be on the trail with our teams.

Here’s the scouting report. The trail is nice with the snow depth ranging from about 4 inches to a couple of thin spots on the top section where I skied today. Tomorrow’s forecast is for a couple inches of snow and then rain. So we will have to see what happens and then make our decision. The one thing that is not questionable is that the scenery of the canyon is absolutely beautiful.
