Go the distance…let nothing stop you from achieving your goals or making a difference for others. In May, 2017 thanks to the radiation treatments around my heart twenty years prior in order to beat cancer, I underwent triple bypass and aortic valve replacement. Four months later, September, 2017, I completed another marathon walk! Walk #18. 1996 THEN vs 2023 NOW.

Ok everyone. 26 years ago I formed Zach’s Pack and we raised our very first dollars to support those fighting cancer. My last cancer treatment was in the rear view by just 9 months.

Today, we are just $74,000 away from raising our MILLIONTH dollar for the benefit of those fighting cancer.

The fact is, for my own survival, it was the kindness of strangers who donated to the research that made the difference. I’m asking for your help.

I’m asking you to donate. It doesn’t have to be much. I’m also asking you to share this specific message in YOUR social media feeds because my guess is you have friends who know me from way back. Maybe you knew me as a teacher, vice principal or colleague. Maybe your my immediate or extended family…lucky you😆 Maybe your a college compadre, island guy, stage tech, high school chum, UMASSer, etc… and if not, then you have the very strangers to me who are also the people I’m looking for.

Zach’s Pack is reaching to raise the Millionth Dollar in our 26th year. It’s the last mile of the 26 year marathon. Though it’s a stretch I really believe that our connectedness and numbers can make this happen.

Together, we have the opportunity to do something absolutely life-saving and fantastic. Together, as friends, family, and as total strangers for the benefit of people we will never know and who are fighting cancer we can raise that millionth dollar!! And that’s why I’m asking for your help.

The Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk is four weeks away. Zach’s Pack is working hard to get to the finish line. Let’s make our mark!!

We were on the scene as Greg Hill & The Greg Hill Foundation helped our friends at Chick-fil-A give out their first Hometown Heroes award!

Though it carries a portion of my personal story, it is really more a story about all of the people out there who are JIMMY... who have fought and who are fighting. It is about the kindness of strangers who have donated to the Jimmy Fund with the sole hope to help someone they will never know who is Jimmy, who is the next cancer patient, child or adult, fighting for their life.

My journey in this fundraising work has always been to thank the strangers and to pay forward that kindness of those donors, donors I will never know or be able to thank, who donated prior to my illness, by raising money for the patient strangers of today.

There is no need to feel any pressure at all. 2023 Opening Day at Fenway Park. For me it’s not just about baseball but about the journey as a cancer patient and survivor and the relationships and opportunities the Red Sox and the Jimmy Fund has afforded me in our work over 26 years to raise $1,000,000.
