Washington County Fire Games II

PPE/SCBA CHALLENGE: 1st Place Blake McCormick & Shane Pastor; 2nd Place Cody Myers & Matt Mueller

MAKE-a-LINE: 1st Place Cody Myers & Matt Mueller; 2nd Place Blake McCormick & Shane Pastor (note: in the final round the teams agreed that the team captain of the runner-up team would shave his mustache; Firefighter McCormick is a “man of his word”)

BUCKET BRIGADE (the “Wausau showdown”): 1st Place Tucker Martin & Charles Cook; 2nd Place Dylan Rudd & Jeff Martin

WATER POLO: 1st Place Roger James & Dylan Hamilton; 2nd Place Wade Moon & Luke Rector

OVERALL: 1st Place Wade Moon & Luke Rector; 2nd Place Kyle Crews & Nick Moore; 3rd Place - tie-breaker was determined by a foot-race, in bunker gear, with Cody Myers & Matt Mueller defeating Tucker Martin & Charles Cook by a “nose” (literally)

A special “thank you” goes to our emcee, Fire Services Chaplain Joe Phillips, who did a phenomenal job!

By all accounts, today’s event was very successful (despite the high temperatures) thanks to the involvement and teamwork of EVERYONE who was involved today!

Congratulations to the teams that EARNED a trophy and bragging-rights, and THANK YOU to EVERYONE who contributed to today’s event! It truly takes a team effort to be successful!

Caroline McKenzie of WMBB-TV MyPanhandle-13 visited with Washington County firefighters this morning to share information about tomorrow’s firefighter competition.

Thank you Caroline and firefighters (both paid & volunteer) for participating this morning!

Gates open at 8am, and Opening Ceremony begins at 10am. The Public & vendors are welcome (free of charge). We hope you join us tomorrow at the Possum Palace.

Who’s ready for some WATER POLO???

Washington County Fire Games II is just TWO days away, on Saturday, September 6th. The Public is invited (free parking).

Gates open at 8am. Opening ceremony, including posting of our National Colors by the Vernon High School’s JROTC cadets, and a moment of remembrance of the tragic events of 9-11, begins at 10am.

Vendors are welcome (no registration; no fees).

EDIT: ALSO, watch for our live-tv feeds (4 total) from the GREENHEAD FD (STATION-50) on WMBB Channel-13, 5-7am tomorrow (Friday) as some steely-eyed hotshots demonstrate some of our events.

We have NINE teams that intend to take home some awesome trophies, and perhaps more importantly earn some bragging rights. It’s going to be a great event - almost as much fun to watch as it is to participate! We’ll even have a booth setup for anyone who is interested in becoming a volunteer or paid firefighter right here in Washington County.

We hope to see you 10am Saturday at Wausau’s Possum Palace!
