💚 It’s clear to say that we have some wonderful youth in our community! Thank you to all who nominated, each year gets harder and harder with such great potential candidates! We’re so grateful for the passion and pride shown across all the entries.

👏 Congratulations to our 2027 4-H’er of the Fair, Payton Karls!

According to her submission, this is Payton’s 5th year in 4-H and will be her 5th year showing at Waukesha County Fair through a variety of projects, from sheep to cake decorating. She’s actively involved as a junior leader in many project areas and, as her nomination shared, “she’s always willing to help someone else before herself because she wants others to succeed as she has.”

We can’t wait for Payton to share more about herself, her projects, and all that goes into her journey and her Fair experience with our community—stay tuned!

There are plenty of Fair stories to tell… what’s yours?!

🎪 From finding friends for life in the barns, to that project that took all night to make (and you thought wouldn’t finish), to even that one time you were dared to brave a new ride, everyone has a memory that makes the Waukesha County Fair such a special part of their lives.

📝 Did you know that story could potentially earn you up to $500?! The Mid-West Farm Report and the Wisconsin Association of Fairs would love to hear your favorite moments and memories for a chance to win.

There’s still time to nominate! Nominations close tonight—who will be our next 4-H’er of the Fair?!

🍀 It’s National 4-H Week—and we’re celebrating some of the many youth exhibitors who bring their talents, hard work and dedication to the Waukesha County Fair!

Each July 4-H members are among the many youth who fill our barns and exhibit buildings with projects they’ve spent all year preparing and learning about. From livestock and photography to foods, woodworking, STEM and more, their hard work is a cornerstone to our Fair and a historic tradition in our county.

Last year, we were proud to recognize Julia Richardson as our 2026 4-H’er of the Fair. Now, we’re looking for another 4-H member who is proud to exhibit at the Fair and represent the hard work of our youth exhibitors!

👉 Are you—or do you know—a dedicated Waukesha County 4-H member who exhibits at the Fair?
👉 Do you have a project, Fair experience or 4-H story you’re proud to share?

Here’s how to submit a candidate:
📸 Share a photo of you or your 4-H’er showcasing their 4-H and Waukesha County Fair pride.
✍️ Then, tell us about their involvement! What do they exhibit at the Fair? What have they learned through their projects? What makes them proud to be a Waukesha County Fair exhibitor?

✨ Our 2027 4-H’er of the Fair will:
• Represent the Waukesha County Fair and its youth exhibitors
• Be recognized with a special photo display during the 2027 Fair
• Have opportunities to participate in Fair-related events and activities
• Receive a Fair season pass, exclusive 4-H’er of the Fair t-shirt and a few other fun perks! 🎁

We encourage both boys and girls to participate in this role!

📅 Submissions close Monday, October 12th at 11:59 PM

🎉 Our 2027 4-H’er of the Fair will be announced between Tuesday, October 13th and Friday, October 16th!

“As a farmer, you learn quick: you don’t get anything that you don’t work hard for.” – Evan Thomas 🚜🌾

Today, and every day, is an opportunity to recognize the farmers whose hard work, dedication and perseverance help keep our communities moving.

Agriculture isn’t simply a way of life; it’s woven into our everyday lives. It’s in the food on our tables, the clothes we wear, the products we use and even the fuel that helps get us where we’re going!

And at the Fair, we’re fortunate to see those same values taking root in the next generation. Through raising livestock, growing crops, completing projects and stepping into the show ring, our youth exhibitors learn firsthand that success doesn’t happen overnight. It takes early mornings, long days, patience, responsibility and a willingness to always keep trying.

Today, we celebrate the farmers who put those lessons into practice every day and the young people learning what it means to carry them forward!

Happy National Farmer’s Day! 🌱

A very important reminder this time of year, especially as we’re in the thick of harvest season! 🌾

Jim has and continues to be such a big part of our Fair family and is not only such a big advocate for our local farms, but for the impact agriculture has on our future generations.
