✨ Butter Lamps for the Shrine ✨

Butter lamps are sacred light offerings, symbolizing the illumination of awareness, wisdom, and understanding.

Traditionally, butter lamps are filled with clarified butter or oil and offered with a cotton wick. For home use, real or electric tea lights can also be placed inside the lamp as a simple and safe way to make light offerings.

At Dharma Treasures, we carry a beautiful selection of butter lamps in a variety of sizes and styles, including copper and brass lamps crafted by artisans in Nepal. These offering vessels make a meaningful addition to a shrine, altar, or practice space.

Whether offered daily or on special practice days, the light of a butter lamp is a beautiful reminder of clarity, devotion, the preciousness of each moment, and the wish to benefit all beings.

✨ About Treasure of Abundance ✨

Treasure of Abundance was created as an extension of the Vajrayana Foundation to help fulfill Lama Tharchin Rinpoche’s vision of sharing these powerful vases across the world.

Lama Tharchin Rinpoche was a beloved Dzogchen master, lineage holder, and founder of the Vajrayana Foundation. Trained from childhood under great masters including His Holiness Dudjom Rinpoche and Dungse Thinley Norbu Rinpoche, Rinpoche dedicated his life to preserving and transmitting the Dudjom Tersar lineage in the West. After coming to the United States, he established Pema Osel Ling in the Santa Cruz Mountains as a place of Dharma practice, retreat, ritual training, and sacred art.

The Vajrayana Foundation continues this work at Pema Osel Ling by supporting authentic teachings, daily practice, retreats, a three-year retreat program, and the preservation of Tibetan Buddhist art and culture. The land is home to many sacred supports, including the 30-foot Guru Rinpoche statue, stupas, and lineage treasures created through the kindness and vision of Lama Tharchin Rinpoche, Lama Sonam Rinpoche, and many great teachers and practitioners.

Treasure of Abundance carries forward one part of this vision through the creation of Treasure Vases filled and consecrated according to the Dudjom Tradition. Each vase is carefully prepared with sacred substances, mantra rolls, mother essence, and medicine balls connected with the Orgyen Khandro Norlha practice, supporting prosperity, harmony, protection, and positive conditions for beings and the environment.

This photo shows a 1994 Treasure Vase consecration, a beautiful reminder of the long history and blessings behind this ongoing project.

✨ The Siddhis of Prosperity ✨

β€œThe siddhis come between the interdependence of those elements on the shrine with you as practitioner, right? So when you do Khandro Thuk Thik you need a kapala with a melong (a mirror) and a crystal, that is where the interdependence happens. Well, if you do prosperity retreat this is the object you are going to use in your shrine to do the process of interdependence for the harvesting of the siddhis of prosperity. So this is a very important element for those who are doing retreat.”

β€” Drupon Pema Rigdzin

Treasure Vases are sacred supports for prosperity, abundance, and auspicious conditions, carefully filled and consecrated according to the Dudjom Tradition of Tibetan Buddhism.

✨ Guru Rinpoche at Dharma Treasures ✨

Guru Rinpoche, also known as Padmasambhava, helped establish the Dharma in Tibet in the eighth century, including the construction of Samye Monastery, the first Buddhist monastery in Tibet. He and his consort, Yeshe Tsogyal, are considered the heart essence of the Dzogchen teachings and the source of the Nyingma school’s terma tradition.

Dharma Treasures offers many beautiful representations of Guru Rinpoche, including statues, thangkas, practice texts, books, and sacred supports for shrine and study.

This beautiful gold-plated and gilded copper statue of Guru Rinpoche stands 8.75 inches tall. Every square inch is beautiful to behold, with a warm golden finish that seems to glow when touched by light. The statue can also be opened for consecration and filling.
