⌛Time for Throwback Thursday! Follow our story from the start in this new series! 📖
The Dairy Cattle Congress' early years weren’t all blue ribbons and sunshine—they were defined by a relentless series of hurdles and challenges that would have folded any other show. But as we’ve learned, you can’t keep a good tradition down.
In 1927, the show was completely rained out. ⛈️
In the early 1930s, the Dairy Cattle Congress struggled through the weight of the Great Depression.
During 1937, a fire destroyed the Industrial Exhibition Building. 🔥
When World War II canceled most major fairs, the Dairy Cattle Congress pivoted to hosting the Iowa State 4-H Dairy Club Show to keep the gates open.
The perseverance paid off. Following the war, the Cattle Congress entered its most successful seven-year period to date, doubling previous profits and allowing us to rebuild and expand. 🐄
It’s a reminder that even the toughest seasons lead to new growth.
