Weddings in Historic Waterford

Weddings in Historic Waterford Set your romantic country wedding among the gracious old homes and peaceful green meadows of the beautiful historic village of Waterford, Virginia.

Let the beautiful historic village of Waterford set the stage for your romantic country wedding. Historic Waterford is set among a growing number of Loudoun wineries and charming B&Bs as well as plenty of good hotels in nearby Leesburg. The Waterford Old School, with its new wing, is ideal for weddings, receptions, rehearsal dinners, and other festive occasions. It has a gracious atrium for receiv

ing guests, a new warming kitchen, and a light-filled 44 x 44 foot auditorium with tall windows, a wooden dance floor, a stage, and chairs and rectangular tables. The doors of the Old School auditorium open onto a covered stone terrace which can serve as a bar or extra reception space and overlooks our charming village and its surrounding hills. The Old School can accommodate up to 160 guests, and in its elegant simplicity, lends itself to either a casual or a more formal event. Available for $2,800 a day. The lovely Greek-revival John Wesley Church is perfect for wedding ceremonies of up to 125 ($1,500 for a full day); and the Bond Street Meadow, across the street, can be tented and used for an affordable outdoor wedding reception ($1,000 for a full day). Across from the Old School, the Catoctin Presbyterian Church and Waterford Baptist Church are available for more traditional ceremonies. Originally a Quaker village dating back to 1733, Waterford became a center of commerce and diversity in the early 19th century. In 1970 this a one-of-a-kind living village of 18th and 19th century homes and buildings surrounded by acres of green farmland in the foothills of the Catoctin Mountains became a National Historic Landmark. Since 1943, the Waterford Foundation has preserved and protected this rare treasure and used its historic properties to teach new generations about life in early America.

An idyllic wedding location and venue! My husband and I rented the Waterford Old School in early November 2015, and we couldn't be happier with our choice. The Waterford Old School brims with potential and ensures a stylish, unique wedding that guests will enjoy, as it provides maximum flexibility for decorating while preserving a sense of historic nostalgia. Perfect for taking rustic, elegant, or vintage style wedding photos, as the venue grounds and surrounding town of Waterford are beautifully scenic and charming. Given the striking fall foliage and the storybook homes and gardens, this is one of the most underrated wedding venues in the DC metropolitan area. And the icing on the cake is the affordability factor! I loved getting ready with my bridesmaids in the Old School's vintage style classroom space, and it made wedding prep seamless as we were able to bring our stylists on site. We held the ceremony and the reception there, which proved convenient for our guests. For more selective brides, the Waterford Old School ensures maximum choice of vendors on all fronts, which allows couples to focus on the elements that matter most to them, while reducing costs as well. One of my favorite things about the Old School is the hallway with floor to ceiling windows, connecting the vestibule to the banquet space. Guests thoroughly enjoyed the indoor/outdoor mix of spaces and mingled on the veranda till late in the night. We received many compliments on our choice from friends who enjoyed the bucolic surroundings and the relaxed yet elegant atmosphere. If you are looking for an artistic wedding that stands out, then definitely visit the Waterford Old School. You will love this venue!
