Nathan Collard discovered the “mural renovation project” and quickly saw the potential to change a distastefully tagged tunnel into a work of art. He approached the township, ironically, already seeking artists to enhance the tunnel. Collard (an Artist himself) made the request of donating his time. After being granted permission to submit designs for the underpass mural, he quickly sought counsel
from a known local artist, Justin McDougald (owner of Dixie Tattoo Co.) Justin contacted local promoter Matt McClure with ideas of expanding the project into a festival in order to fund the remaining cost. The 2014 “Dare to Inspire Festival and Mural Project” was a great success in drawing new interest to a mostly ignored site. With the combined force of a newly created team and the great support of Sue Camilleri, and all the local donors the project was a great success. The festival grew into an art, music, and food festival for all of Waterford families to enjoy. Now “Dare to Inspire” asks you to help make this annual festival set an impression for years to come. The mural will be led again by Justin, Nathan and featuring a new team of artists for 2015. They will be painting live throughout the festival and need your help once again to fund paint and materials by coming together to make this festival amazing. Every penny counts and individual vending spaces are available but filling fast. Please help our dream to create and celebrate Waterford come true!
