🇵🇷 TODO TIENE SU FINAL… PERO NUESTRO LEGADO VIVE PARA SIEMPRE! 🇵🇷
SIX YEARS. ONE PETITION. ONE COMMUNITY. ONE INCREDIBLE LEGACY.
After six years of petitions, organizing, fighting, celebrating, and proving that Greater Waterbury's Puerto Rican community deserves a celebration of its own, the Afro-Caribbean Cultural Center and the Greater Waterbury Puerto Rican Day Parade & Festival Committee proudly announce our 5TH AND FINAL GREATER WATERBURY PUERTO RICAN DAY PARADE & FESTIVAL WEEKEND! 🎉🇵🇷
2027 THEME
HERENCIA AFRICANA
AFRICAN ANCESTRY 🖤❤️💚
Honoring the African roots, resilience, rhythms, and revolutionary spirit that live in our Puerto Rican blood.
This year, we honor the ancestors whose blood flows through our veins. The African men and women who fought back against the chains of slavery, whose resilience, resistance, spirituality, and creativity gave us BOMBA, ANCESTORS, shaped our SALSA, and helped forge the very soul of Borikén. 🪘💃🏾
We celebrate a people who continue to resist colonial oppression, confront the consequences of PROMESA and austerity, and fight for the dignity, identity, and self-determination of our beloved island.
OUR AFRICAN ANCESTRY IS NOT A FOOTNOTE IN PUERTO RICAN HISTORY. IT IS OUR HISTORY! ✊🏾🇵🇷

❤️ SIX YEARS OF BLOOD, SWEAT, TEARS & BORICUA PRIDE!
When we began this journey, people told us it couldn't be done. They pointed to 1999 and the past as reasons why Greater Waterbury could never have another Puerto Rican Day Parade & Festival.
We refused to accept that our community's future had to be defined by its past.
We organized. We petitioned. We fought alongside our people. We built something from the ground up, and year after year, we demonstrated what is possible when our community comes together with love, purpose, and PRIDE!
And now, after five incredible celebrations, we are preparing to take our final bow. 🎭
BUT THIS IS NOT THE END OF OUR WORK. IT IS THE BEGINNING OF OUR NEXT CHAPTER!
Following our 2027 celebration, the Afro-Caribbean Cultural Center will shift its energy toward year-round cultural education, workshops, establishing a Puerto Rican Cultural District, and launching the Brass City Boricua Book Club. 📚🇵🇷
Our mission is to increase Puerto Rican cultural knowledge and consciousness, preserve our heritage, and ensure that future generations know who they are, where they come from, and the extraordinary legacy they carry.
As we close this chapter, the Center will retain the parade and festival's name, logo, physical materials, and organizational assets. Any future group wishing to organize a new celebration will have the opportunity to create its own identity, establish a new committee, and build upon the roadmap we have demonstrated.
Where once people pointed to 1999 as the reason we COULDN'T, future generations can now point to our work as proof that WE CAN!
To every volunteer, sponsor, artist, vendor, community partner, committee member, and Boricua who believed in this dream: THANK YOU! This celebration belongs to the community that made it possible.
Now, let's make our FIFTH AND FINAL celebration one for the history books! 🥹🇵🇷🔥
¡QUE VIVA PUERTO RICO! ¡QUE VIVA NUESTRA HERENCIA AFRICANA! ¡Y QUE VIVA WATERBURY!
